my mom shampooed carpets a few days ago (31st & 1st) but ever since then, our house has smelled like dirty feet or wet dog or something.

it’s only like that in the living room area/hallway/steps where she shampooed carpets. the other rooms don’t smell like it.. could this be because she shampooed carpets? if it is then why all of a sudden does it smell? it never has done this before. how can we fix it?

I agree with Barby, when it dries the smell will go very likely. :-)

It wasnt dried throughly, do you have any fans? Youre gonna want to dry it as soon as possible.

Yeah it needs to dry out, or the padding got really wet. Maybe the soap wasn’t enough. I’ve never had the place smell after shampooing the rugs—but I also let it dry and air out.

I have the same problem. Cleaned the carpet, put fans out, doesen’t smell like wet carpet. It really does smell like a bad foot odor or sour milk. Can an old dryed milk spill or who knows what (we have three boys who always have friends over) re-activate and start smelling?
Thanks for the opportunity to ask this.
