I would like to see more equality with women.
I am an home activist that clearly believes in womens rights.

Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
Unclear - are you male or female? I assume male.
how do you feel we (women) are being treated unfairly?
Or does he mean he wants to be aqual to women, which is how I read it?
I am male thank you :) From the UK I feel women are used as objects and looked upon as inferior.
do women not look at men as objects to play with, as well, sometimes?
What do you mean by ‘home activist’? It is not a phrase I have come across before.
home activist is someone who works individually on different campaigns
i honestly don’t see a lot of inequality these days.
do you have any first hand examples that could help me understand your point of view?
It’s not a perception I’ve come across much - you’ll always get a few idiots whether racist or chauvanistic but it doesn’t seem somthing ingrained in English culture. In fact due to equality legislation if you’re going for a government job (police/fire/counsel/forces) you’re more likely to get the job sometimes they even advertise for women, homosexuals and ethnic minorities only. Aside for that slight bias towards women I can’t think of any way tjhey are treated unequaly - except by the small group of idiots of course but you can always find someone who hate you whichever gender you are.
I’m a feamle from the UK, and I agree with Steve. We have come a long way here. And im my profession I find no discrimination. I have equal pay and conditions.
I know this country has come a long way but I am also talking about internationally.
hi ali
I am also a union activist, which is why I am interested in your phrase ‘home activist’ as I haven’t come across it here.
i think alistair is talking about human rights
So what issues in particular are you concerned about & as an activist what are you doing about it and what do you think the rest of us should do?
and equality we are both trying to set up a group in norwich
I think there are undercurrents that would suggest a perception of women as inferior by ~some~ males. Mind you I have been blessed enough to meet some real jerks. Not in the work place specifically but in life in general. An intolerance and fear of the emotion women tend to be capable of, the power of a strong woman…rather intimidating to some of the standing to pee persuasion, in my experience.
about human trafficking we dont expext people to do anything but support are aims a
Write and be a pain to the local MP and what I would like to do is set up events educate the public about what the victims of trafficking go through.
Although, in my union role, I have met some discrimination. It’s as if the only way to defeat my arguments agains management bullying etc is to demean me as a woman.
yes this is what helps change things
Maybe that is a separate issue!
why do you demean a women two wrongs dont make a right if you are being bullied then bring it up with your bossess
Sadly Anubis you will do as in the union this is and has been a male dominated area.

That’s what I mean also a total disregard for the respect that a woman’s body should have. I think we demean ourselves by subscribing to some of that as well.
alistair you still here?

I love the power of a strong woman.
That’s great to hear :)
yes especially men but some women do choose to get involved in the industry and are unaware of what goes on
Respect is one of the things gone out of the window from most male perspectives. I know this is not going to be a popular note I have made.
i think you are right but there are also women who dont respect either
going to go now alistair

Not in the union, the union I work for is the most accepting non-discriminatory company ever! No the management I meet when representing members. When faced by the ‘enemy’ they try to demean me. One spent several meetings calling me by the wrong name to try to upset me! haha didn’t work.

What do you mean? I dress incredibly professionally, suited and booted, no issue at all. Or do you mean something different.
Good to hear Anubis. I mis-understood thanks. It is important not to let these people bring you down and I am glad that you don’t.
I too have to make a move but would like to continue chatting with everyone here later. Thanks:)
Thanks, no problem. I just keep getting confused because my real name is Michelle!
Oh, ok. It has been very nice chatting Michelle. Maybe again later.
