1:What Religion are you a part of? agnostic

2:Why? (Were you raised this way or did you choose this on your own?)raised Buddhist. came to on my own very recently

3:Do you feel that this is the right religion? for myself it is. Don’t really care what others believe or do, it’s their business.

4:Do you wish for world peace? no. I believe that wising is and end without a means to get there.

5:Do you believe in the War in Iraq? no, I served my country and still do not believe the war in Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, etc is just.

6:How much do you know about other major religions? I have received a degree in cultural anthropology which i think makes it my business to know everyone’s beliefs and practices.

7:Do you know anything about Zen Buddhism? yes

8:Would you be willing to learn anything about Zen Buddhism? yes

8a:(If yes) where would you be most comfortable learning about it? Tibet perhaps…

9:How would you feel if America went from a predominantly Christian based country to a Buddhist based country? If it were westernized Buddhism I would feel hopeless like usual. If it were traditional, I would rejoice and perhaps indulge myself in some hope. probably not though.

10:Do you like the way the government is being run today? today, I guess. I’m terrified that our new president will be assassinated though.

11:Do you think America is ready to change? I have a been sent a glimmer of hope today but mostly I have come to lack all faith in humanity due to ignorant, idiotic persons and their self centered actions.

12:Do you think that America needs to improve our foreign policies? as always, everything can be improved to some extent.

13:Do you believe that Politicians should learn more about other major religions? Why? I seem to remember somewhere in the constitution something about freedom of religion. politicians can do what they want in this regard as long as they do not try to instill their beliefs on others.

14:Would you feel uncomfortable if the majority of our major elected official were not Christian? Why? no. the job that they do has nothing to do with god and their relationship with him, whatever that may be. As long as they do an excellent protecting and serving the public as they were appointed to do, being that they were chosen as the best able to do so.

1. Christian
2. Basically chose it on my own
3. I think it is the right religion or I wouldn’t be practicing it
4. I do wish for world peace
5. I don’t really know how I feel about the war in Iraq…but mostly I lean toward the thought that the US needs to mind their own business.
6. I know a passing amount about other religions
7. My mother in law is Buddhist; but she is not Zen. Right now it’s late and I can’t think of what she is.
8. I would learn about Zen Buddhism
8a. I would be comfortable learning about it in a college class
9. Personally, I would like to have America be a Christian country; but I don’t think that is very realistic
10. I do not like the way the government is being run today
11. I do think there needs to be a change/we are ready for it
12. America needs to improve foreign policies
13. American politicians need to have a passing knowledge of other religions; as well as other cultures, ethnicities, and races….doesn’t mean, however, that I want America to “convert.”
14. I might feel uncomfortable…

1:What Religion are you a part of?
None

2:Why? (Were you raised this way or did you choose this on your own?)
I was raised this way, but I have explored different religions briefly, and didn’t really buy into any. So I’m still ambiguous, but kind of agnostic.

3:Do you feel that this is the right religion?
…sure!

4:Do you wish for world peace?
Every day

5:Do you believe in the War in Iraq?
Heck no

6:How much do you know about other major religions?
Not that much, honestly

7:Do you know anything about Zen Buddhism?
A minor amount.

8:Would you be willing to learn anything about Zen Buddhism?
Yes. (I would be willing to learn about many religions to broaden my perspective.)

8a:(If yes) where would you be most comfortable learning about it?
From someone I knew, as a friend or mentor. From a person, not necessarily a book or pamphlet.

9:How would you feel if America went from a predominantly Christian based country to a Buddhist based country?
Very confused. Christianity decides a lot in our country and government. It is very hard to imagine the differences. It’d be pretty crazy.

10:Do you like the way the government is being run today?
…well, Obama won, so lets just say that I’m hopeful for the future. (And no, I do not like the present government.)

11:Do you think America is ready to change?
Apparently.

12:Do you think that America needs to improve our foreign policies?
YES.

13:Do you believe that Politicians should learn more about other major religions? Why?
Yes, to understand other country’s motives.

14:Would you feel uncomfortable if the majority of our major elected official were not Christian? Why?
No, I would feel that there would be a more balanced point of view as a whole in the government.

:)

I want to change my answer 13 to the same as rjd234’s. although in America where church and state are separate, something that most every other country in the world does not offer, (the reason that we love the freedom our country provides, and some choose to give their lives to protect). an awareness for such religions that can also lead into some motives behind the actions that other governments take is necessary.

1:What Religion are you a part of?

I believe in Jesus Christ

2:Why? (Were you raised this way or did you choose this on your own?)

Yes, but with a different understanding of the Holy Bible.

3:Do you feel that this is the right religion?

I know so.

4:Do you wish for world peace?

I don’t wish for war but as far as world peace goes I leave that up to God. I know it will happen His time and His way.

5:Do you believe in the War in Iraq?

I support our troops but to be honest here, I don’t know if we get all the right information to even answer this question.

6:How much do you know about other major religions?

A little Bit

7:Do you know anything about Zen Buddhism?

no

8:Would you be willing to learn anything about Zen Buddhism?

I don’t mind hearing about others beliefs but as far as taking them as my own beliefs, no. I know Jesus Christ is real.

8a:(If yes) where would you be most comfortable learning about it?

Wouldn”t matter to me as long as the answer above is very clear.

9:How would you feel if America went from a predominantly Christian based country to a Buddhist based country?

I would be saddened by it.

10:Do you like the way the government is being run today?

No

11:Do you think America is ready to change?

Seems like the majority of people are wanting change but to be honest I don”t know what kind of change they want…not the same kind of change I want.

12:Do you think that America needs to improve our foreign policies?

Yes

13:Do you believe that Politicians should learn more about other major religions? Why?

Yes, only to the point as to not offend, for example if purple flowers were a sign of a certain religions death symbol, I think it should be known so as not to have purple flowers around. But not as far as bowing down to other God’s.

14:Would you feel uncomfortable if the majority of our major elected official were not Christian? Why?

isn’t it that way now? I don’t like it and would love to have it different

Thank you for your time

Your Welcome

1: What Religion are you a part of?
A, Pentecostal Christian

2: Why? (Were you raised this way or did you choose this on your own?)

A, my parents are protestant; my friend introduced me to a Pentecostal church. I love it and I’ve attended ever since.

3: Do you feel that this is the right religion?

A, Yes, the preaching is wonderful; I learn allot from it in my daily life. It helps me over come obstacles in my life that hold me back. Praise and worship is special and I can’t wait to get back to church on Sundays and glorify the lord for what he’s done from me.

4: Do you wish for world peace?

A, Most people do, I know none that want war but it is necessary because humans can become corrupt and sin. I do wish that others could feel such piece in their hearts as I do.

5: Do you believe in the War in Iraq?

A, There have been so many reasons for this war. I do think it was necessary but for the reasons concerning their leader and what he was doing to his people. A man they were supposed to trust and look up to committing so many misdeeds. It sickens me!

6: How much do you know about other major religions?

I am very keen to learn about other religions. I know about other Christians and their beliefs. I had two friends that were Muslim and as part of our teachings in my church we learn aspects of other religious that are good and bad.

7: Do you know anything about Zen Buddhism?

A, Perhaps not ‘Zen’ Buddhism but I know of ‘Buddhism’. I have plenty of books on it. I can’t quite agree with some of the philosophies involved.

8: Would you be willing to learn anything about Zen Buddhism?

A, I’m willing to learn anything and give my honest opinion.

8a :( If yes) where would you be most comfortable learning about it?

Maybe info through leaflets or e-mail.

9: How would you feel if America went from a predominantly Christian based country to a Buddhist based country?

A, Pentecostal religion is an American faith but if this did occur, it wouldn’t change my beliefs or make me consider my beliefs are wrong. I accept others for their beliefs and I don’t try and badger people in to my religion either. I’m too in love with my faith to wish from any other- it’s perfect for me.

10: Do you like the way the government is being run today?

I’m Scottish myself but I would like to see change in the American government. It will be interesting to see what changes are made. I hope religion still has a strong background in America because here, I see very little acting Christians- it’s sad.

11: Do you think America is ready to change?

A, yes, America is stuck in its ways, now is the time for it to change with a new government on board.

12: Do you think that America needs to improve our foreign policies?

A, I think America should be a bit more absorbed in it’s own policies first before it looks outward to ‘foreign policies’.

13: Do you believe that Politicians should learn more about other major religions? Why?

A, Yes, I think that politicians should not only learn about religions but cultures too. They shouldn’t generalise religion or countries. We’re each unique. For example, you asked me about ‘Zen Buddhism’, is that the same as Buddhism? Probably not, so we should each know the difference and understand one another.

14: Would you feel uncomfortable if the majority of our major elected official were not Christian? Why?

A, some people don’t find religion important. I think it is. It wouldn’t matter if there was a majority or minority of Christians, we’d still believe. A leader that lacks religion doesn’t mean he’s any less important or corrupt in a way. A leader is chosen from his skills, not his religion. Would America lack a religious influence? If it is easily swayed. That is not the true commitment of a Christian then.

I enjoyed answering your questionnaire, God bless you!

Rachael

1:Agnostic

2:I never believed in my family’s christian ways since i can remember. I think critically too much.

3:I believe whatever religion a person believes is correct, and good for them. We all have different beliefs and I like that it’s varied.

4:Without problems, we wouldn’t learn anything. World peace wold be nice, but would we ever accelerate within our society if we had world peace?

5:I think America is very nice for trying to help them out, but that’s not our job to go and fix other country’s problems. What about America’s problems? Are we ever going to fix those?

6:I know a lot about other religions. Probably not more than someone who studies it. But I have a little more than the common knowledge about religion.

7:I really like their beliefs and how they practice their religion, if only more people practiced it.

8:I would love to learn more.

8a:At school.

9:I think we would learn a lot more about our selves and others.

10:I do not.

11:Ready to change? No. I don’t think it’s possible we could change.

12:YES.

13:Yes, It would benefit them highly in making the right choices for what is best.

14:The only reason I would is because I know christianity very very well. If it was a religion i didn’t know much about then yes.

Thank you for your time
