I posted here before about me not knowing what directions my life is head as far as my purpose in life etc…

. I also stated since I can remember I have always wanted to be a Corporate Attorney and major in Political Science and now that I am 19 I am only 5 years from achieving that goal. But recently I have had thoughts about I am choosing the wrong directions.

-One part of me wants to major in sociology
-One part of me wants to go into Politics
-One part of me wants to start my own business
-One part of me wants to HELP everyone I can
-One part of me wants to be a lawyer

But at the end of the day I want to help people and I am torn on the best way for me to do that.

Because of this I have been unable to complete anything I start because I think it will be useless; I have also been letting my grades slip and everything.

My parents have offered to allow me to go anywhere in the world to help me find my “path in life”. I dont know if I want to go somewhere where I can help people or go somewhere to relax or what. Any suggestions would help.

I live in the U.S. by the way

Anything you do will help people. Lawyer gives people a service, politics gives many people a service but can be hard and you may be hated. Sociology is a strange one. I do sociology as part of my degree and it seems none of them know anything of real society.

What business would you start?

I’d take your parents up on that offer to go find your path. Why not go do something to relax? You may not get the chance to do that again. If you want to help out why not join up with the peace corps or something? It sounds to me like you really want to make a difference; go see what needs changing.

What does the brain part of you want to do? Maybe that’s what you should listen to.

Yeah from what I have learned in my sociology classes it is about the real society…it a lot of abstract thinking though and no one is an individual.

I have really interested in Advertising/Marketing or something like and organization that would help people in the U.S. specifically in the US to begin. Because I think if you want to fix something you have to start from the inside out. (if that makes sense)

Lol, I have applied to the peace corps; I have also (been accepted) to a internship with the secret service (did that because it helps protect people in the US from threats). But with everything I decide to do, I feel as though there is something bigger that I am supposed to do and I stop doing what I was doing before

My brain is telling me to help people; but there are so many things I want to do and they all involve helping people. But with with each one of those things i have a “feeling” that is only a small part of what I am supposed to, I feel there is something more

I am taking them up on the offer; I just was not sure if I should go somewhere to relax or not.

why not become a lawyer, and work in the public defenders office for a bit, before starting your own defense attorney business….and entering politics. Many politicians start off as attorneys.

That would be the perfect plan but I am no defense attorney; I would rather prosecute (DA’s office)

I was thinking DA… but then you said you wanted to help people… that would be a defense attorney right? But on the other hand… the DA’s office would be a quicker route into politics I would think.

Yea defense attorney’s “help” people and usually convinces a jury to let guilty people go (so in reality you are not helping people because you are allowing people who committed crimes go free) in the DA you have the say in who to take to trail and I guess that could be helping people too by taking “bad” people off the streets….

But being a DA doesn’t “feel” right (maybe you gotta start somewhere and you’ll end up where you are supposed to be

All of your choices are great options….but you have to narrow it down….which one can you do everyday and love it? Which one do you feel like you can spend the rest of your life doing? Which one do you feel you are best at? Which ones do you least like? Which one do you feel will bring you the deepest satisfaction? Which one do you think will not only bring you the deepest satisfaction, but will help others out like you want to help them????…take everything into account….take your time too!….I hope this helps!
