This seemed interesting, so I thought I would ask…
How do you respond to telemarketers? Are you genuine and polite or do they irritate you thoroughly?
Perhaps they have interrupted your train of thought or a special activity you may have been working on ever so diligently.
Several telemarketers might call your residence within a 4 hour duration which could understandably, infuriate any individual.
What are your reactions to a telemarketer?

What is a telemarketer? I’m only in the second grade, so i need you to make this easier for me.
I feel sorry for them, because everyone is mean to them eventhough that is there job, and you have to pay the bills somehow.
i have not answered.
i have picked up and hung up immediately.
i have answered and ask for the manager, asked to be removed from their list.
(it worked)
the best though… was during a humorous moment, where is answered as an old lady, and mistook them for my long lost niece Caroline. i told her about my chickens and then she hung up.
i have answered and told them to stop and hung up.
i have answered and listened to the whole schpiel and wished them luck but said i was not interested.
i have answered and asked what the weather was like where they were, which was Maine… and far from me, her name was Katherine and she missed her sister who lived in Austin, closer to me.
i suppose i have done them all…
but being kind was always most rewarding.

I hate telemarketers especially the ones that call on sundays… at like 8am or the ones that call back to back from a blocked number you don’t answer and not even 2 seconds later they call back from the regular number pretending to be someone else.
I hang up or say no one is here.
My current S/O will tell them they have like 10 seconds and to go if he likes what they are saying he’ll listen if he doesn’t he hangs up.
Well I know they are just doing a job but what i usualy do is tell them they have the wrong number or that I don’t speak English ;)
i tend to discount the fact they’re just doing their job. but i don’t verbally assault them neither. nevertheless, i find it very frustrating when i am pulled away from my routine and introduced to their voice.
I try to be civil and explain that I’m not interested. Do they ever actually make sales?
I know of one person who said, If they are rude enough to call me during dinner, I’ll be rude enough to hang up on them!
I know one gentleman who said to the telemarketer, I have some questions for you.
T: Go ahead.
G: You’ve gone to college?
T: Yes
G: Which is correct, The egg yolk is white, or The egg yolk are white?
T: I believe it would be The egg yoke is white.
G: Well, here they are yellow!
T: *click*

lol, i must learn to try that in the future.
i usually just hang up because the usually are selling something i already have or something that i would never need because of the area i live in or the type of home i have
I really don’t ever answer the phone. That’s why we have an answering machine.
i have an answer machine also, but i’m always afraid it’s somebody important calling so i feel compelled to answer.
ah, but if the call is urgent, perhaps someone might need help. i would feel awful to neglect the call if that were the case.
to be honest, i am not home during the normal hours they usually call.
i’m sure their customers are a very select few.

In the UK you can register with an organisation called TPS which then makes it illegal for companies to make unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to you. So if they call you just say “I’m on TPS” and then they usually apologise and hang up. Companies can be fined for ‘harassing’ customers with Telephone Preference Service. It’s free to join and worth it!
I try to sell them stuff from around my house, or ask them if they are in need of any services provided by my company.
Then, if they are good enough sports to stick around thru that, I treat them as regular people, ask them how their day is going, and then politly let them know that I have no money, and live with my parents in the basement, with my Star Wars collection.
Then, male or female, I ask them out. If they say yes, then i follow thru.

I’m sorry………….but I couldn’t help but laugh Brian.
ahahahahaha
well I used to be mad at them, but now if i have the time i let them ramble on and then hang up
but actually we don’t get telemarketers anymore since i put our number on the do not call list only calls i get are from debt collectors and i loooooove messing with them
“I have a perfectly functioning kitchen which I am, in fact, baking in right now, and my windows are perfectly fine double-glazed, I don’t need them any more times glazed than that now I’m going to go carry on making cakes bye”
I’m usually polite for the first call and simply say “no thankyou”.
But if they keep bugging me with calls night after night, then I just say “I’ll just put you on hold…” and leave the phone dangling while I get on with life!
A lot of telemarketers can not hang up the phone, so you simply leave them on ‘hold’ and play music for them. My roommate use to do that, along with evil things—like scream into the phone incoherently, have a total nervous break down—threaten to find them, come to their office and harass them incessantly…
I’ve tracked Telemarketers down and posted information about the companies, call numbers, the carriers of some of them and basically everything you would need to know to bother them back—and reporting them to the BBB.
I usually check my caller ID. If I don’t recognize the number I let the answering service pick up. In the past I have just told them I am not home or available and hung up. :-)
I usually quite like it if they’re the sort which are asking a questionaire about your experience, or your household or something… I guess I like the attention :)
Usually they’re about stuff I can’t have anyway, like double glazing (I was in a rented house), so I just appologise and say have a good day. I quite like getting a call occassionally :) I just hate it when I’ve been waiting all day for a call from my boyfriend and one of them phones instead…
its annoying, and usually just a quick ‘no thanks’ stops them mid-spiel and puts an end to it. It’s a pretty rubbish job for them too, so no need to make their day any worse. I heard of someone once who said, ’sorry I can’t help you as I don’t have a phone’ which confused them enough to hang up!
Honestly they have ticked me off to the the point where I pick up and say “Im sorry I can not understand your accent” Even when they speak perfect English, I tell them “Im sorry, we speak ENGLISH here, ENGLISH” Then I tell them I Need someone English and Hang up, It works a lot of the time. But They call back a lot too. I try to ignore it but they dont take a hint and let if ring all 5 times before it hits the machine.
