I want to become an author someday and I am working on my first novel which I have lots of ideas for but I could use some advice/tips.
Any ideas on how I can outline my novel to make sure I’ve thought of all the details? What does every thriller novel need? How do you go about writing a novel (what do you need to have done in order to make it come together)? Thanks in advance for all the advice :)

Is it correct to assume you want to go with a thriller novel?
When I write, I give a name to a broadly defined character and let them tell me who they are, where they are, where they are going, etc.
Even when I have a goal in mind for them, they are still the ones who tell me how they get there.

do u know anymore plot outline websites?
Firstly, make sure you read this if you want to be an author http://hollylisle.com/fm/Articles/qui… it is harder than it seems.
I am sure you have thought of this already, but it really made me stop and think.
Some more websites about plotting among other things:

interesting (the holly isle thign). i wouldn’t just up and quit my day job unless i was a bit more financially secure. i just love to write.
Fantastic. Writing is awesome and fun. If you are good, may as well get published while you are at it. :D
yeah only thing is is that i don’t know if i am any good………probably not. i don’t know. right now i’m just trying to figure out what i want to happen, my characters, etc.
well………someday I know I want to write a book based on my life thus far (it’s been an interesting life so far LOL)……..I want to write a thriller novel about a girl who is clairvoyant and sees her best friend die through a vision. There is a serial killer on the loose now and she fights to bring him/her down. As the serial killer goes through victim after victim, she gets closer and closer to him/her. At the end though, I want her to get away after being caught.
or him i mean to get away after being caught.
what do you think? don’t steal it now LOL
I don’t mind criticism either! I mean it’s not fun but I’ll listen still :)
Sounds awesome. I wouldn’t steal it because it is not how I write at all. I write about werewolves, angels, monkeys named sven, etc.
that sounds cool :)
any advice of your own for a fellow writer?
I would like to see a thriller without any killing. It is possible. A guy who somehow writes a number on the forehead of people in mirror. The number of course being the number of his victim.
From here, you can go for some really freaky stuff, like all people with a three trip at a certain place, or all people with a 5 somehow pass each other at a certain time. Freaky occurences that are all of a sudden noticable.
wow, you are good at this writing stuff. do you have any writing advice in general too?
I probably do, but I cant think of anything off of the top of my head. When you get along with your story, I will critique it properly and honestly.
fair enough. thanks for your help!
No worries. Dont hesitate to shout me if you want any additonal help, or just post here, I will get the notice and come here to help.
thanks. it will probably be a bit though cause i have to start writing after the outline and i don’t have tons of time to work on it only a couple hours here and there.
Every little bit counts, good luck I hope it works out for you :D
thanks.
