Computer Problems

Hi, I’m currently having some issues with my audio codecs, recently I had to reformat my computer and when I reinstalled everything I couldn’t play any sound. This error message would appear, “detected a problem with your audio configuration, audio/video playback may not operate properly.” I run a windows XP, have already checked the hardware, it says it’s operating properly, tried troubleshooting it, waste of time that was. I’ve also attempted to download an upgrade for the drivers in hopes that would fix it however I can’t seem to find much that has proved helpful. My computer is a HP media center m1199a. If you have any suggestions as to what I can do to fix my problem I would be very grateful. Thank you for any help you can offer.

do you have the original HP discs that came with the computer?
you should be able to insert them and have an option which says either repair or update.

It is hard to say…i am not sure abt it.
Try to find the old version(friends or computer service) and install the old version.
You can find some driver here www.filehippo.com

I would try going to www.microsoft.com and typing in audio codecs in the search bar

does your computer have PC Doctor installed?
it should be located at Start, All programs, PC help & tools

while it won’t fix the problems, it may show you how to fix them.

Go to this site and download the HP Product Detection. It will list all of the drivers that make that machine work. You probably installed the wrong version of the driver that you needed. Hope this helps :-)

If you go to this link, it will take you to a page at HP, that will help you install all drivers for “HP media center m1199a”.

The control panel on the left of this page, also has links to lots and lots of other stuff regarding your model.

did you try downloading your drivers again from the hp support center. it worked for me. if this doesn’t work then it may not be a software problem, try to check your audio devices.
