Why is it so easy to put others down and so hard to pick them up?

Where were you?

But seriously.. I think its easier to point out a trait that is obviously delicious, rather than pick on the multitude of boring ones. Unless I get picked upon first, then its a game of skill and determination.

because it is instantaneous when you put someone down but it takes both time and effort to pick them back up. and people just don’t have the patience or caring to pick anyone else up anymore.

that may be a bit of a generalization.

I read your profile(before you commented), I am amused.
It’s a lot easier because it takes less effort, thought and words to say something unkind than to say something positive that build’s someone up. I mean to say something mean you only need 2 words.
“you’re darling”…
hmm that wasnt so hard.
ok. ok. may I ask a related question, tell me if its too much off topic.
Why would you even address someone if you didn’t have something yummy to say to them? I really think I am being serious
Cell wrote:
* Your a darling (3 words)
It’s short for “you are darling” (just so we all have it right)
Plus you need to say something specific for a person to feel really good about themselves. Were as a few choice name-calling words and the person feels like garbage.
ok well i apologize for the generalization. “most” people are like that. atleast everyone i know is like that.

Actually “You’re a darling” What was I thinking? Wrong your
but now you know me. and the adventure begins. (we noticed, cell, but why all the judgin’ we say and let it gooooooo)
oh I didnt mean you are A darling.. i simply meant You, my dear sweet friend, are darling.
see it actually did take 7 words.
perhaps i kno you not. hmmm maybe

I figured that was your aim, but I was referring to worldfarers version being grammatically correct at a count of three words (in total written form) as “you are darling”
daksha wrote:

thats always a possibility
yeah that is a good possibility. because it is the actual description of these events.

you dont know what you know so dont act like you do
Is that a put-down? That was easy.

How do you know it is easy? *gasp* world wanderer… IS Cell too!
and if we do not know each other then how do you know what i know? by chance i maybe your neighbor or maybe not, the possibilities are truly endless

no, cell, it was an ancient chinese proverb, that got just a bit twisted in the translation. but meant with the love and generosity that befits this post.
and that my friends, is a perfect example of another literary device known as sarcasm.
Everyone possibly knows each other… world wanderer may be cell arguing with herself.. the starter of the post revealed him/herself and disappeared without a breath to add… And everyone is looking for a reason to call something a “put down.” 0___0 *ribbit*

Then, lets consider, being more open to compliements, as we are to insults.
I am not cell. I never thought that being was like me. plese stop saying that, I am getting offended. seriously
oh the irony. it is truly to much for one post

You can hit me now if you’d like before I go to take my mental lashings for getting so out of hand…
lol.. yes yes.. .yes.. even I must smile… all pouty and grumpy as I may be.
now If I could just combine wordfarer and daksha… hmmmm
world wanderer wrote:

Are you saying that I am daksha? ;)
i do not see many positive prospects in such a combination. surely our conglomeration would attempt, and most likely succeed, to take over the world.
hand me the popcorn and the warm cuddly blanket.. I wanna watch the whole thing unfold. not the blanket.. pfft
oh but death is surely not your desire as of this moment. most definitely you would enjoy the carnage to be wreaked by a daksha/worldfarer or worldfarer/daksha combination. it would be most amusing a slightly cheerful in a morbid sense of humor.

Yes, the flames will keep you warm and even cook your popcorn ^_^
hmmm… no no.. carnage is not my goal. but neither is warmth, as I am always too hot as it is. I just want to think like this all the time. and then I want to think some more.

“Thinking?” That is the key to a new world order? Hmm… (already on it!)
but the more you think, the less you act and the less you act, the less stuff gets done. unless you think it, tell someone to do it, and have them be responsible for any negative outcome. i like it :D

Nicely thought! Since we already set as thinkers then clearly someone else has to be the moving blame collecting thing.
this is actually a little too concentrated for me. I need a breather. Sometimes things can be too delicious.
oh and I deligate icily. Hi tech corporate word. .. also, luv, if you “Tell someone to do it” you are the responsible one. *kisses* to all, and goodnight.

Aw what? You see how she sneaks that in after I become a thinker? Then takes off to the sack…
but here is the sleight, you formulate the plan in secret and pass it on to a person with such an ego that they would deny any help in it creation. therefore, in the public eye, you are none existent.

she has taken flight to prepare for our beginnings of world domination. surely you will join me?

If logging off to sleep or loaf begins the domination, then yes.
we must be prepared for the oncoming surge of power for when the world is ours, the ecstasy of our rule well take over our need for sleep.

I notice you didn’t mention it taking over our need for loafing ^_^ Yes, yes…
for it will not. we shall have advisors for the work and we shall all been sitting in comfort at any location we so desire with any and every luxury we wish. the loafery shall comence when the revolution is complete.
To answer the original question, I think that it’s much easier to put someone down then back up because its hard to get people to believe compliments, but easy for them to believe a insult, probably because ‘pride’ has been drilled into our heads as being a sin.

O.K. That seems reasonable action- going to have to work overtime to get to the loafing!
