Blue screen and reboot

I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on how to fix my computer. Everytime I try to connect to the internet, a blue screen shows up and then it restarts. It only does it when I’m connecting though, as long as the wireless switch is off, it will stay on as long as I need.

Thanks!
Hope

what is it you’re doing , what program are you starting to connect?

I’ve seen this with a virus before.

I don’t get far enough to start a program. almost as soon as I hit the wireless switch on my laptop, it restarts.

GREAT a virus, just what I need.

It’s more likely a bad or damaged driver for your wireless card. Go to Device Manager, uninstall the wireless card there, and check the box that says remove drivers. Hardwire to the internet, and download new drivers for your wireless card.

It would help if you could see the main message when it blue screens. Is it something like “IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL” ?

Ok, then go into Control Panel>System>Error Recovery> Uncheck the “Automatically reboot” option.

I’m pretty sure I did that yesterday and it didn’t reboot the next time I tried to connect, it just froze.

Right, and that should let you see the error that’s happening. Without knowing that error code, we are shooting in the dark.
