Year help: I have a coworker who drives me and everyone else crazy. - Help.com

I have a coworker who drives me and everyone else crazy.

He takes credit for other people’s work, he has this attitude like the place would fall apart without him, and he second guesses everyone elses work when he is always screwing things up. The boss keeps him here because he will work this crappy schedule that no one else will take. He will perform one nonessential task or so a day and goes on to outsiders about how it would never get done if it weren’t for him doing it… I just want to fire him. but I can’t. I am 22 and he is 45 and I am his boss. He has been in this business for 10 years and I have been in it for two and I can do everything he can’t do right. He cannot perform even the simplest task here; his work looks like a little kid could have done it. I am also certain that he deliberatly screws things up so he’ll never have to do it again… he is just so pathetic I hate him I hate him I hate him aaaargggghhhh!

wow, you sound depressed.
can’t you move him somewhere? or making him doing simple stuffs that he LIKES. let him work by himself.
on the other side, you need to move other people doing more works, so he has competitor. This way, he may re-evaluate his performance.

don’t worry, you’ll be a great boss!

I’m a bit confused - you said the boss keeps him here because he’s willing to work the bad schedule, but then later on, you say you’re his boss. Do you mean your boss wants to keep him? Bottom line is if he’s not getting work done during the time he’s there, he’s not doing anything anyway and should be fired. Hire someone new who’s looking for an opportunity. There are lots of people out there who needs jobs these days . . .

Do you hate him? Or do you love him?

Think about it.
