Should I trasfer to a different college?

I go to a prestigious college now and majoring in engineering, but I am looking to changing my major. I can’t get into the business school at my current college, but I have found a college near my home town town that has a good business school that I will be able to get into. I am looking to take over the family business, so the prestige of my degree doesn’t matter in finding a job. However, it is important to my parents that I graduate from the more prestigious school and just find a different major within that school. What should I do?

Just move on. It is your life. Enjoy it and be confident in making your own choises. A degree is a degree. As long as you have the qualifications, who cares????

First, why do you want to change your major?

I want to take over our family business, and an engineering degree seems to be wasting my time and energy when it has little to do with what I want to do in the future.

well, this is your life man.
if i were you, i would be finishing the engineering degree. youre already in, youre doing it, and it is extremely valuable to have a degree or something you could fall back on does the family business thing not work out.
do you really need the business degree to take over the business?

Do what you want to do. Weigh your options. You are not your parents’ second chance at life. Listen to their advice but you don’t need to follow it. You’re old enough to figure out what you want and what is best for you. How far are you from graduation?

You don’t need a business degree to succeed in business. But I will tell you this, and I have an MBA–engineers can get jobs when people with MBAs cannot. Just something to think about.
