Because 1) they need money. 2) this site is called help. So, they think this site is also suitable for asking money help.

If you type “help” into google, you get this website as your first hit and there is also a link within the help.com link that says “finances”.
So people think they can ask for money here because of that.

It has nothing to do with stupidity. Sometimes people get desperate and don’t know where else to turn. Obviously, there are a lot of scammers looking to get money from people here and on other sites. But some of the posts are genuine. If you can’t/don’t want to help them, fine. Move on to the next post. But kicking someone while they’re down is not a nice thing to do.

They ask because of the old saying “If you don’t ask you don’t get”, ok I find it annoying when people expect free money without doing anything for it, like one someone asks for a huge chunk of money to pay for xmas when they have had 11 months to come with some money and wait untill the last minute before they freak out.

What really winds me up though are not just the scammers but the people offering loans, preying on people they know are deperate and will try anything to get help, I think thats bad..

So the asking part I have no issue with really, maybe I have an issue with some of their expectations but you can’t attack someone for asking a question even if the answer is no.

Probably because they see it’s help.com and figure someone would send them something. I guess..

A fool is born every minute. Either they are one of those fools, or wish to catch the attention of said fools. Also, some may really be that desperate, though if they are, it probably makes a lot more sense to see what’s available in their area, as people tend to be a bit more charitable on the local, I can see you face, level.

i find the site helpful in a lot of ways, but to ask for money not so much, i can’t imagine someone here lending money out to strangers
