Money help: Hi I am brand new here. - Help.com

Hi I am brand new here.

I am trying to find out how to get help without having to ask the government or go on welfare. I have been laid off since April and my unemployment has just run out. I have enough money to pay the bills until the end of the year but there will be about $50 left for food, gas etc. I am hoping I can make that stretch ok but I have no hope of giving my 5 year old a Christmas. I am legally married but my husband left us in January and I have NO hope of help from him (he is in Mexico with his girlfriend.) I am just looking to find help with giving my 5 year old son a Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanks for any ideas.

make him a toy, mayhaps

but i think, for the sake of your son’s well-being, you should seek government support. it is not about pride, it is about your son.

To be honest I do not even know how to go about doing that. Also wont they count my husbands info even though he doesnt live with me since we are legally still married?

I agree. You need medical assistance for him and yourself. Perhaps in this way you may consider getting training for a job that can support the two of you and will give you insurance coverage as well.

No decent person likes to go this but, in these difficult employment times it is necessary. Good Luck

well you need to let them know you are seperated from your spouse; he has an obligation to pay child support, and if he doesn’t, well, you can sue him (and i’m not saying that you should)

i’m only seventeen, i dont know how to get government support. google it

Well I wish them luck getting a penny out of him :) He has a lot of unpaid bills since he packed up and moved to Mexico. I will look into the government support too I guess. Thanks.
Sarah
