By chance, we are born, who we are!

So many times, think about who I’m and who I could have been. Could have been born in Iraq, Iran, etc. Also could have been a native American riding with Geronimo! Could have been outlaw and a part of the James gang…loll.. And the best part, could have been born at my wonderful dog, Spunky, now, that would have been special as she has been treated like a Queen. She is a stray that is the most awesome dog I’ve ever owned.

Also, the worst part, could have been born a Republican. Lmao…Just kidding…once believed in what they believed in, but they changed, not me!

Bottomline, if you don’t feel blessed to be living in the most wonderful country on Earth, you should re-evaluate.

Also, NEVER been more proud of the United States of America, they elected the first Black man as their President. Also, a man with a Muslim name. Dang, that is special, having grown up in the deep South with all the hate, bigotry, prejudice, etc., it makes it more special.

I just wish people would stop talking about Obama being our first black president. As long as he does a good job as president, why does it matter what color he is?

I agree and disagree. We used to be a slave country…so it’s great to recognize how things have changed.
Even though there’s still racism out there…bleh

I was at a BB King concert. he charmed us, flirted with EVERYONE, was so brilliant so incredible. and at the end he simply said that it is wonderful that things have changed. he couldnt even look at a white girl… lol. but he did.

I am spoiled, I don’t know how hard it is for some people. I try to be empathetic, but I am kind of immature. But when he said that. It made quite an impression.

So , in summary, this stuff does matter.

You are right, Emily. But I still agree with JCD. If we are going to end racism, then we must quit discussing color so much, whether its bragging it up OR running it down. Who cares if the guy is black. If he is capable of running the country, let him run it and quit fussing about what color he is! He is no better or worse because of his color, but rather because of what he makes of himself.

It would be just as signicant if he had been the first White man elected. Not being racial here, but our country has come a long way, just recognizing that reality by my comments. Don’t see where this is racial in any sense of the word.

I’m 62 years old and can remember the signs, that said Whites Only Can Drink here. Our country has come a long ways.

Very thankful for that….

PLEASE read the post carefully.

Good Post Cotton :D I never appreciated living in this great country until recently.Due to the way I was raised, im sure. But I do now. I prayed for the leaders for the first time just recently and am now able to pass the appreciation on to my generations so they are not ignorant to what others have to endure b/c of being born into less fortunate countries.

yea, i hate the way people keep saying that ‘this is a huge leap for global equality’ yet they still manage to fit in ‘americas first black president’ somewhere in the same sentance…

Well let me say as a non-American, hoorahy for the toppling of another anachronistic conservative tyranny!
We recently toppled ours after 11 years of horrible foreign policy, draconian 19th century industrial relations policy, and the less said about our previous environment policies the better!

I hope the Mr. Obama is all that everyone one in the free world hopes him to be.
Good luck to the man!

:)
