my grandma is such a racist!

this has nothing to do with political views, i just dont see how people can think like this. my grandma was talking about how obama was looking for schools for his kids, and how all the ones they looked at were nice and integrated. seriously? there are no segregated schools! blacks and whites can legally go to all the same schools!
befor the election she was telling us about how there were three guys planning to assasinate obama and how stupid they were to get caught, “and they weren’t even black.” gah! black people arent the only people in this world who go around shooting people! omg! i just dont understand how people can still think like that!

Uh, your grandma is old. Old people say stuff that seems weird to us because they were raised in a different time. I didn’t find anything racist about either of those statements.

I agree. She’s old. Give her a pass. I do think there are something seriously wrong with those statements but you have to excuse her. Try your best to laugh at her ignorance. If you work yourself up you’ll just be angry and it wont change her at all.

I don’t see how JahRadio doesn’t see anything racist here, but I do agree with their raised in a different time point. My grandmother is exactly the same, she is extremely racist, but she most certainly isn’t going to change her thoughts on the matter now.

How is saying a school is nice and integrated racist? Would you rather her have said that it sucks that it’s integrated? You go looking for racism, you find it.

The second statement is questionable, but I could give a **** what some old lady’s views are… No disrespect.

To me that’s saying that black people are stupid and how it’s amazing that white people were stupid enough to get caught.

Your right though, the first one doesn’t sound too bad, but it depends on the context it was said in.

lol i never knew my grandmother was such a racist until the stupid election either.

the fact is our grandmothers are older and come from a different era they don’t like change and won’t accept facts because their old and think they know more than us, when you get old you just seem to not care what you say anymore

Yes. Grandmas get funny that way. Although my grandma was always a fairly tolerant person as she got older she would have her moments I didn’t appreciate so much. I just laughed it off. I think what she said sometimes even confused her.

Oh god, I hear ya. My grandmother was always pretty racist, but when she got Alzheimer’s she forgot that it wasn’t socially acceptable to be a racist nut anymore, and would say the nastiest things in public. Of course it’s not her fault that she forgot what is socially acceptable, but it was still incredibly morally wrong, and therefore unforgivable.
