starting fresh after kicking heroine…

i’d just like to say how much i love this site and how grateful i am to have the support of help.com’s users.

recently, my boyfriend and i had to deal with a serious problem: he was addicted to heroine. he worked up the courage and told me one night and i took it well, but inside i was devastated. it figures that with my luck the one person i manage to fall in love with has to shoot up heroine just to feel normal. hell, i even had to HELP him once because the withdrawal symptoms were so severe. but i loved him, and he was determined to kick the addiction, no matter what it took, so i knew we could do this.

a couple users here on help.com helped me through the stress i was dealing with, of school, of work, of just plain worrying about my bf, his addiction, and the depression and other afflictions that come with it. i hated keeping this secret to myself, and i didn’t want to voice my worries to my bf himself, because he was looking to me for stability at that time. help.com really helped me through that.

after two weeks of cold turkey (with the help of a medicine called suboxone), that worry is a thing of the past. he no longer needs heroine or the medicine, he’s eating and sleeping normally now, he’s taking care of personal hygiene, he goes outside again, and he’s happy. we’re both happy.

i’m in awe. i never thought i’d ever encounter a serious issue like this before, but here it was, and now we’re through with it. i dunno. i’m happy. i just wanted to say thank you. you’re such wonderful people.

much love. :)

That is really a great thing to hear. positivity is in rare form on this site these days, but i appreciate it. i hope he can stay sober for you and him, because it sounds like you really love and care about him, and he trusts you with his life. good luck and sweet dreams.
