It seems like you are doing it in return for something else and if thats the mentality than usually its not what expect… when you do things like help a stranger or an old laidy cross the street you feel something inside of you that just makes you smile and than it becomes contagious and you cant wait to do it again

well than think of it this way than do unto others as you would like done unto you… Not saying that people will treat you the way you wanna be treated all the time but by showing that your putting yourself out there helping people who need to be helped your letting your actions speak and its defining you as a caring individual

if you’re actively trying to find benefit out of good-will towards others, no wonder your not feeling a thing.

Helping others helps you to discover a unique value of your selfworth. There is no recognition in it, just the simple joy of knowing that you can make a difference in this world by doing for others each and every day.

Exactly. What you benefit from is the satisfaction you get when you help them. When someone helps me, I feel like “Gosh, ..someone really does care, even just a little ..but it’s enough to take time out of their day to help me.” It feels incredible and it does make a difference. So, I figure why not return the favor? It may not seem like something big or something that important, but it could be extremely important to them.
Helping one single person could possibly change their life forever ..you just never know how things work out. If you’re doing it purposely to try and recieve something materialistic or whatnot, karma is going to straight kick your *** later on.
