US Marines…

is anybody on here in the army?

I want to get some information about being a Marine, or being in the Navy

I have looked at both of the official websites, but I would like to hear some

things coming straight from a person who has their own experiences.

I mean, I have a cousin who is in the Marines that I could talk to, but I really

never see him too much.

help me out guys

Don’t. Honestly, and I don’t mean to sound sexist but the military is not for women. Men in the Armed Forces only want women in there for one thing and one thing only. It’s a very sexist society. Any branch. From the experiences that I saw and also saw how women were treated, they were relegated to certain jobs and not treated very fairly. If I ever have a daughter and she tells me that she want to join the armed forces I will oppose it till the day I die!

Listen, if you really are thinking of joining, don’t join as an enlisted person. Go in as an officer. Officer have it a lot easier than enlisted personnel. But, even women officers were not treated fairly. I saw all that firsthand.

Officers = more money right away even when they start at Second Leuitenant.

Enlisted usually have an officer in charge of them even if it’s a second leuitenant.

Enlisted people = not enough money.

Officers better living quarters and sometimes by themselves they don’t have to have a roomate.

Enlisted personnel you end up rooming sometimes with up to four guys in a 10 by 10 room.

But to be an officer you have to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree.

Enlisted can join right out of High School with a high school diploma.

If that is your picture, you’re way too sexy and too pretty to join the military! Don’t do it!

I just want to work hard at something, and I want to be proud of myself,

as well as my family…I mean, I have a good job right now & I’m 19 years old.

The only thing I feel I have accomplished is a Highschool Diploma.

I want more. I want to get out there, do new things and see new place.

Well, finish college and get your bachelor’s degree. If you are going to join, join as an officer. You are at that age where you want to start finding yourself and what you want to do with your life. Use the military as a stepping stone to continue your education. (college and life)

As a police officer, at least in the area I live in you need to have some level of college + experience or a degree, like in criminal justice.

Im in the marines, being in the military is going to give you veterans pref. getting into any police department regardless of enlisted or officer. More importantly its going to give you the experiance and knowledge to become a a success at being a cop. At 19 there is no better place to get ahead of the competition than getting the training the Marines will give you. As far as the comment about being sexist, society is sexist that is something you’ll have to deal with wherever you go! As a matter a fact im sure you’ll find more sexism in the police departments than any branch of service, however, being a Marine will definately prepare you for all the hurdles you are about to face
