Tea Fire!
yet another fire has started in California. Of you remember my post about thae Gap Fire over the summer while though that fire was large it was in a safer place. Today a fire started around 5:45pm in montecito, part of santa barbara county. many houses are in Danger including a college called Westmont where all the evacuaies were sent. The traffic in the streets is absolutely horrid with everyone trying to leave as fast as they can. the fire grew very fast with the warm winds to help it along. Houses have been burnt down(including one of my best friends)but not in abudance yet. the last update avaiable states the fire has burned 400 acres. This sudden fire has even caught attention in Alaska. (we didnt even know about it till our realitives up in alaska called to see if we were alright). Earlier today as i was watching the fire from my front yard the fire kept leaping spreading the fire wider and later on when the winds were becoming stronger(70mph) as i watched along the ridge it looked almost like a turpedo racing down and up the hill. The flames are huge!
According to a press release just issued by Santa Barbara County, 70 homes have been consumed in a burned area of about 800 acres. Two injuries were reported from smoke inhalation and two from burn injuries. It is not yet clear if these injuries were sustained by fire personnel or area residents.
