Should i buy a pregnacy test?

I’m trying to get pregnant, my period was due yeaturday, i’ve been feeling sick but so far no period. I had what felt like period pains so i expected it to start but it hasn’t. should i get a test or just play it out- is it normal to get pains at the beginning of pregnacy?
