Hey man dont talk about your mom like that, my mom has made me feel the same way.
Does your mother say your worthless, and only ruin things?
give her a box of ferrero roche. They always work. Or buy her a ticket to a ladies evening. They work too. Or you could take her to dinner at a nice hotel…They all work for me!
Ah, I should make her day after having her insult me. Brilliant.
well, if you make her nice it would work. if you are lyk 20, u could pack a suit case and get the cheapest flight outta britain.

My mother calls me names on a regulaur basis, she once told me that she gave up her life for her kids, and we were all useless, she threw me out before she’s hit me and tried to beat me up once… and she once gorged my arm with a spoon because I used her rice pot.
And for some odd reason,
I still love my mom and would do anything for her.

Not in Britain. Not 20.

I am a mother,
What do you think brought this on?
How do you treat your mother on a regular basis?
Yeah, but my mom was going through something prettyy bad.
but still Ikari, I dont know what you deal with, so is she always this way?

She was in a bad mood, as often is the case, about something else, started pissing me off and being rude, led to that exchange.
When she isn’t starting anything, well.
Nante wrote:

Often in a bad mood, never admits she’s wrong, nags a lot.

Not at all.
I was going to say maybe she’s going through a tough time. Some people can’t deal, and take it out on others. I’d give her the benefit of the doubt, like Nante does with his mom.
Appreciate her now, you’ll miss her when she’s gone -_-.

well your age has lots to due with your feelings. At 13/14 you are in an emotional stage. I am willing to bet she is not mean, but just reacting o your up and down moods.
Hey, Ikari. Guess who brought you into this world! She could have thrown you out right then. It’s because of all she’s done for you that you are here right now and can enjoy this wonderful planet!

Well my god, I should just talk it all! she’s going through a hard time! Bless her heart, she doesn’t mean it, she can’t help it!

I just was trying to say that she might not be trying to hurt you intentionally but lashing out because she can’t deal with her own feelings.

Come on, guy! Relationships are a two way street. You actually owe your mom more than she owes you. You gotta put SOMETHING into it to make it work!

Mmm, Yes Yes Yes Teenagers are demonic monster from planet Angst.
But Has Anyone here ever took into concedertation what you have said?
Like none of you have said You Couldnt stand your mother, Or You this shes bad.
It seems like a room full o’ hypocrits to me. Maybe His Mom Just Needs Some Kotex? It is possible for the MOM to the be the Angsty Mean one, its not ALWAYS the childs fault. To Heck with her was a bit harsh, But you all act like you treat your mother like a queen.

Well, I think out of the blue I’ll just insult all my friends and teachers, and all of my friends on here, repeatedly. But you’ll all take it just fine, won’t you?
Well this might not work for you, but my mom would always kick me out, and I would always just come back when she went to work, but after the whole hug thing, IO was finally done with her, so I went to live with my dad, in about a week she felt bad and told me to come home, but I didnt, in about a month she cried and apologized and I went back home.

?
You think thats what I did?
Look, I love my mom for who she is, she has alot of good qualities, but in all honesty she is a tyrant, she will take her anger out on whoever is there, untill she is on her own.
When she is on her own, I guess she realizes the only person she can blame is herself.
Hows things with your dad?
how do you all get along together?
With my dad much better, doesn’t insult me out of the blue, fun to talk to. Always takes my moms side blindly though, won’t listen to anything I say on that. But much better in general.
Okay, maybe you and your dad should go out more together, if your not there for her to take her anger out on you, and your dads not there to agree with her, maybe she will finally deal with whatever it is she needs to deal with, and realize how important family is
(sorry if thats corny)
but seriously, my mom really turned around after I left.

pah parents, I dont always get on with my mum, i even got abused by someone and she said i shudve moved out for not telling her and said I shudve known it was going to happen what they did.
one way that makes me deal with it better is to remember that parents are never perfect and are human like everyone else. they also do and say stupid things and they cant always be the best influence in life in at least some ways. you just have to learn and find ur own way to deal with things at times.
no eye contact…. lol
Its not stupid, just dosnt work for me…Well if I wanted to I could run fast enough to get away but when I got back.. Well, I would be practicly omish, No Tv, Computer, Phone, Internet, Or anything (and im homeschooled so no friends) Most likly for abotu a month or so.
has it always been this way?
when I was little my mom went crazy due to all the shizz that happened to her as a kid. Crazy = not a good mom
she even landed in the phsyc ward a couple times and she regularly ran away
but she got a phsycologist and got better, and (until this year) all has been good since. (she acts like a 13 year old girl, these days…sad when your 3 teenage daughters are the mature ones in arguments..)
in fact, I hardly remember my mom being a part of my childhood.
I don’t know if any of that will help you, but for some reason I felt like I should tell you, so maybe it will.
you know I think you jsut inspired me to make a post about MY mom…

What happened this year to her?
i’m glad my mum isn’t like that.
she used to have her bouts of madness… she was an alcoholic.. still is I suppose. But instead of wine she drinks vodka… apparently it makes her less crazy.
but anyway, the turning point for her was when she twisted my little sisters arm round so much she nearly broke it.
she walked out for like a night, then came back.
i guess it shows people can change once they get the wake up call.. but then again, my mum is my hero, my inpiration to be alive. she’s the one who has helped me through everything.
its a **** shame you can’t view your mum like that Ikari.
but you’ve got us :)

Don’t take her sh*t. Express your anger, cold shoulder for a while. Hold a visible grudge and tell her exactly what’s up. This is war.

I cut out the parts I thought went too far. but expressing yourself, standing up for yourself, and letting her know what’s up, would be a real growing experience and she is very likely to respond to you as a man instead of take you for grantide.
Wise editing, you did there. I was just being melodramatic. How did I do?

thats the abridged version?
Your mom is a (insert insult here). Even if she was in a bad mood she has no reason to be a (insert insult here). You are amazing and she has no reason to dislike you.
Hey there. I’m a mom of a 15 year old. And have lots of friends who have teenagers, and we all compare notes. Also for whatever reason, a lot of my daughter’s friends like to talk to me, so I hear things from their point of view, too. The first thing I want you to know is that parents are not perfect. We make mistakes, we say stupid things - it happens. Sometimes we may have an excuse, but sometimes not. Obviously, there are degrees here, because some of us mess up more than others, but we are ALL going to get some things wrong. I think that’s hard for a teenager, because when you are little, you are more inclined see your parents through rose colored glasses and think they’re perfect. As a teen those glasses come off, and you see your parents for who they really are. It would be normal to be disenchanted and disappointed when people don’t live up your expectations. Second, I believe it’s programmed into parents and teenagers nature to start “getting on each other’s nerves” at that point. From a civilization standpoint, I think the purpose of this is to give the teen incentive to leave and go out on their own. The problem is that in current society, a 14 year old is NOT equipped to be out on their own.
You’ve got to know that it’s OK for teenagers to feel frustrated and not “like” their parents sometimes. But regardless, your parents (with a few, aggregious exceptions) deserve your respect. In other words, think all that stuff in your head about what a pain they are, but avoid being disrespectful, because that just makes the situation worse. And if a parent is really being unreasonable or wrong, don’t be afraid to call them on it. But DON’T do it when either of your are “raw” or emotional. Cool off first, and then calmly bring it up again, and explain the logic behind why you believe they are unreasonable or wrong. This usually means wait a day or two at least before addressing the subject again.
Also, you should know that the way you feel right now about your mom may very well change in time. My dad and I saw eye to eye on NOTHING, while I was a teenager. We understood nothing about each other and I dealt with it by avoiding him as much as possible. But that did change - by the time I was in college, things were better. Just keep those doors open.
Also, I read an article recently that said that teens experience emotions (good and bad) at double the level of a mature adult. And remembering back, I think this is absolutely true. What we adults believe is drama or angst is very real to teenagers. But we have to inhabit each other’s world, so we just have to make the best of it. And having people to go to and vent about it all is really helpful - this is a great site, isn’t it???
my mom and i arfe best friends! but sometimes since we’re so close, when we fight it hurts even more. just take a deep breath when she insults you. let it go. you don’t know everything that is going on in her life. and she doesn’t know what all is going on in yours. don’t sweat the small stuff dude. let it go and try and put it in the past.
I like your attitude Ikari
Don’t worry.. I’ll adopt you ;)

Really, no offense at all, but back in their day they also had proper spelling and grammar. The internet at the same time makes us more knowledgeable and more lazy and careless. I scarcely know how to spell, I rely on firefox to check my spelling. Back in their day, they had to spell correctly.
Anyway, I really don’t think that we are smarter than they are. On the new issues: The internet, technology, and maybe even general knowledge, we have the upper hand. However, they have years of experience and general learning on their side, and I think that at the very least this makes us break even.
However, in 10 years? 20 years? We’ll be smarter than they ever were. We just need time.
Oh, and I’d never trust my judgment. I’m way too temperamental.
Adam.. you just got adopted! :)
