I am a 17 year old girl and I am thinking about buying and retraining failed racetrack thoroughbreds to use as schooling horses for children.
I have successfully tamed and trained a wild half arab mare, and am thinking about starting a riding school for adults and children using Parelli and John Lyons training methods on my horses.
I was wondering if it more difficult to retrain a thoroughbred than train a wild horse. . . I know it will be alot of work. I have owned 2 horses for 8 years, but I would say my riding skills are a little over intermediate. I am really good at working ground skills with a horse.
Do you think retraining thoroughbreds to be schooling horses is a bad idea? Thanks.
