Love help: I’m a college student going for my degree in photographic arts. - Help.com

I’m a college student going for my degree in photographic arts.

Several months back I had no choice but to sell my camera in order to fix my car. I took a $1000 loss on it and my grandfather had helped me out with the rest. Transportation was a must as my mother depends on me to get her to the doctors (she is trying to save her money for a car) and at the time my grandfather was told not to drive for several months due to recent open-heart surgery.

In exchange for helping to get my grandfather around to run errands and get food, he offered to help me repurchase a camera so I could stay in school and find a local photography job. Unfortunately, he died two weeks later. My grandfather wanted me to succeed in school because none of my siblings even finished high school and my grandfather himself only ever finished the 6th grade.

Because I have been out of school for over 6 months, I am repaying the loan I took out to purchase my camera/lens in the first place. I would love to get a higher paying job in the photography field, but since I don’t have my own equipment, I can’t do so. And a portrait studio job pays less than what I already make. After bills, my girlfriend and I have enough for food. I calculate that it will take me till summer to afford the camera I want, and that isn’t even including school tuition (I have already used up my grant priveledges). I would love to save up for school and not have to worry about a camera/lens. I can save up for the spring/summer registration before March.

I realize most people will just say to try and get a better job that pays more, but I am trying. I would like to be a successful photographer and someday pay it forward to help out other hopeful photographers. I am a very giving person when I’m able to give. I would give my last dime to someone in need (and that’s all I have these days!). But right now I am looking for a few dimes (or 30,000 of them rather!).

If there is someone out there that is well off enough to help someone out, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you, and God bless.
