Good birthday presents for an 18 year old…

?

So I’m writing a novel that I’ve been working on since early July, and find myself in a problem where I need to think of birthday presents from parents to their 18-year-old daughter. Any suggestions? Preferrably sentimental or somehow thoughtful and able to be bought on a low income. And please don’t say a car (that comes on Christmas from a different character, ha-ha). All suggestions appreciated! :]

Jewellery? A simple necklace or something they could have saved up for? That’s a sentimental thing she can keep forever.

Perhaps, a lovely gold locket with their photo’s inside, with something touching engraved in the back such as: to our most cherished daughter, that parents could ever hope for, all our love ….

Buy her a nice wine glass with Happy 18th or something written on it for show. Maybe something like this http://static.blogr.com/tenants/com/s… but a bit nicer with more flashy glitter. Also yes to the jewellery.

a little antique jewellery box with a tiny key… found in a yardsale.

(gave my daughter that and it’s her most treasured possession)

these are all pretty typical presents if u think about it.
well it really does depend on how close you are to the person….
eg, for my friends 21st i wrote him 365 post it notes, sort of as a count down to this next bday and stuck it on his wall while he was at work spelling out happy birthday etc.

as for close friends, u can get them something cheeky naughty etc? and then something that she can treasure.
