Hey, I’m graduating college this spring with a bachelors in Natural Resource Management.

I don’t really know what I want to do after college (so far wildland firefighting has my interest) but I would like to try to give back to society (volunteer) and would like to travel as well. So I was thinking peace corps but I’ve heard such a mix of things about that (US government funded agencies sometimes have alterior motives, and who are we to force our ’solutions’ onto communities that might not really need our ‘help’) Thinking about volunteering with the UN but they have an age requirement of 25 (i’ll be 22 when I graduate) so if I started some sort of career then 3 years drop it seems like not so good of an idea.. Well any suggestions on what to do with my life, or any volunteer organizations (preferably to get me out of the United States)?

I bet you can call a forest ranger and get free advice. A lot of those goabraod programs are rip-offs. You may want to save $ and explore on your own

volunteer firefighting may also be a good start for you. they pay for your fire school and some even pay you a little money

Ill study Environmental Development and Management at ANU next year.
i also want to join NGO after my graduation.

My opinion, teaching English can drag you down.
ive seen lots of En teacher in asia. they don have particular dreams and just stay the country and have a college life. one year would be fine. but not longer than that.

if you have enough money, try asia. like thailand. they always want volunteer there. UN also.

Hey,

You might be able to find what you want from GoAbroad.com’s Volunteer Directory at http://www.volunteerabroad.com or if you want, you can always ask their expert online advisors at http://www.goabroad.com/onlineadvisor…

Good Luck!

Wesley :)
