Meand’ring Mirror
This image looks familiar
& yet it seems peculiar
Is not this the very same mirror I’ve stared at once before?
What has been altered, I know not
Or perhaps I simply forgot
Leaning closer, staring far more, changing my space can’t spot
What has been changed, am I deranged!
Suspense keeps my minds eyes estranged
Inspecting more, reflecting o’er, detecting nothing re-arranged
Who is this person I’ve become
My search for answers leaves me numb
Dark spots & time lines mark stretched skin as age has ruled its ransom
My squandered, laundered, pail of youth
Conceding now reveals the truth
As I finish washing, glaring, staring, drying, wond’ring in this booth
Perhaps tomorrow I will feel
At home in my skin, less my ill
So everyday I try again to blend with my skin – still feeling it’s not real
