Has anyone sen the movie “The Mission”?

Kind of an older movie, it has Robert De Niero in it.
I have to write a paper about it, and i dont get this:
“Write a one page reflection on the movie you watched in class. The first section of the reflection needs to focus on the historical accuracy of the movie. Did you feel it was historically accurate?”

It’s an opinion based essay? That’s easy because opinions are not that easy to mark off as long as they are on topic and are backed up with reasons why you think this way. And only a page!? Wow schools have gotten lax.

Hardest part of writing a paper is getting started.
Good luck.

Regards,
Argentum, A.

I know it’s an opinion based section, I just don’t get it.
Historically accurate?

It sounds like the teacher has an opinion and is looking for the students to validate or differ with it.

The film had a feel of authenticity, but that has more to do with the skill of the art director than whether or not it was historically accurate.

Is this a Catholic school. If it is, then your teacher may have revealed that he or she has an opinion about how the Catholic Church is portrayed in modern culture. The film (which I saw over a decade ago) had a fairly scathing view of the effects of evangelism, because of the violence that has been perpetrated in the name of God. The film makers may have been entirely accurate, or off base. I have no idea. One thing is for sure, it portrayed the warfare associated with conversions in the Americas as having a detrimental affect.
