I’ve been wanting to move out of my parents’ house for so long. But my boyfriend just got laid off, and my current job keeps me comfortable as long as I never pay rent or utilities.

No, not really.
I live in a country with a very strong welfare system, that supports students like myself. I am used to living on a limited budget.

And I think you should have friends over for dinner. Because isn’t their company more important than the setting!
