Do you believe in karma?

I was wondering what your thoughts are on that topic, do you believe your good deeds will be repaid down the road? Do you believe what goes around comes around? I’m curious.

and if so, does that justify the bad things that have happened to you throughout your life?

To a degree, yes. Though not in any “afterlife” sense.

I think, for example, that you get out of this life what you put in. Time and time again, I hear things like “My friends are boring… I’m lonely” and “I don’t care about school…. my grades are going down”.

Then there’s “I don’t see what’s wrong with drugs…. I can’t get a job”.

For me, karma is very much the here and now.

“We reap what we sow”.

So does that justify all the bad things that have happened to you? by those beliefs, you must have deserved it in some way?

Been believing in it for all my life.
There’s a consequence for every action.
Did good deeds, good thing will happen.
Did something bad… something not so good will happen, in this life, or maybe the next one.

Karma is “consequence”.

Delicious has it one.

Could be, I tend to look at it as life lessons though. So anything that has happened such as adversity, would only make me stronger and more understanding as a person. I believe there is always a balance and there is a positive to counteract each negative if one is open to that.

Personally, I don’t think karma comes into the equation in freak events. For example, I don’t believe that lightning strikes only bad people or that you must have dones something bad to have ended up with an ingrowing toe-nail…

I think it’s about conscious effort/will and consequence.

I’m just having a hard time believing in karma. If you believe in it, then one must also believe that all the bad things that have happened to you throughout your life have been, in some way, your fault.

Not necessarily a fault so much as an experience you needed to learn from? If you look at it that way it may be easier. We all make mistakes and life is about learning after all.

I believe that karma is caused by social and personal circumstances. If one feels guilt about something that they’ve done they will likely sabotage themselves whether consciously or unconsciously. If they do not do it, those they have effected negatively will cause the society to think less of them, resulting in their less comfortable life.
The extent to which I believe in it is comparable to the extent to which people notice it. Correlation does not prove causation, so they say.

thats a pretty intersting way to view it, never really thought about it that way, i always saw it as absolute.

also i wonder, is it bad to do something good for someone just so that someday good will be done to you? is that wrong?

I would tend to think one would want to do good just for the sake of doing good although we are all selfish creatures and tend to enjoy the feeling of doing good which is kind of the same thing, no? lol

I would like to believe in karma, but without proof, I will have to remain doubtful of its existance. What I do believe is that taking the high road at every opportuinity, can’t hurt. If karma does exist, having behaved well over a lifetime might put me in good standing. I believe in C.Y.A.

I believe in Karma, its a one of lifes cycles that everyone experiences, but you cannot live your life on the basis of whether karma’s going to come back to you or not, you need to live life to the fullest, deal with the consequences of bad actions or enjoy the good that comes from your good deeds!

I do believe in karma. It happened to me. I was going with this dude and I didnt treat him right. I kind of treated him like I didnt want to be with him and I did some bad things I regreted afterwards. Next couple of months I get with this boy and he treats me like that, and I mean the exact same ways. I know my example isnt the best but its true It’s life It happened its kind of like welcome to reality! So I say watch what you do.

My sunglasses are stolen of my backpack in a crowded city in italy, next day I’m with a different pair of people from a different country ask if I like sunglasses and hand me a pair they found that morning. I went from RayBans to Smiths in 16 hours. I think karma isn’t just operating on a higher level, it’s right down to a pair of glasses. Coincidence? Maybe but I had dozens of experiences like that in just a few months.
