Process help: what is the longest time someone has had braces on for? - Help.com

my cousin had then for 8 years.

Hey my name is Christie, I had got braces when i was seven then I had to get them removed temporarily when i was thirteen because i was pregnant, then i got them back on til i was seventeen and pregnant with my second child, then i have had them ever since and i get them off when i turn forty i has bad teeth

i have had my braces for two years, i got them may 5th of 2008 and i should get them off sometime in december of 2009, before that i had a thing called a “penguin” for a year or so, i hope you dont have them long if your getting them or have them! but the result, i hear, is worth it. :]

i have only had my braces for 2 years and 4 months im in 11th grade and i was told i would only have them for a year but i had a palet expander that was in for a year and then later the descoverd it did not work for the whole year so i switched orthodontist and basicly had to restart the whole process and my 16th birthday is comming up and all i want is to get them off but i have a little spce on one side and im not sure what to do….?

Gahhhh I feel every bit of the pain! ive had mine on for 9 years and still going……
I should be getting them off finally… this december 2009 but realistically it
will end up being january because of christmas comming up…

Ive got braces and have had them on since like 2006! i really want them off now :( but have to take for a tooth to come down before i do! really not good i dont want them for my 18th but the man at detist said i got another year atlest :/ ..but 9 years well long so i feel more sorry for you :/ x

I have had Braces since March 6, 1979 when i was 10 years old. I had them off for 4 yrs while in the Navy but got them back on after my honorable discharge. I still have them now, top and bottom. I have had 4 different sets in that time. Two sets of the begg Brackets, One set of Roth Brackets and now have Twin Edge Brackets on bands. Its cool though. It beats having no teeth. I have had em so long with many dental issues. I have had surgeries for jaw issues, sleep apnea, you name it. I will always have Braces I think.

I’ve had braces twice combining for over 10+ yrs. Thats gotta be some kind of Guiness World record or something. Also have had ALOT of dental work done (Underbite Correction Surgery,which included breaking & resetting my jaw. And lastly this Implant & Crown. Then its off with these braces FOR GOOD (I hope).

I’ve mine for 13 years, now. had them all the time. should it be a world record? lol

i’ve had mine for a day. got them off yesterday.

I’ve had my bottom ones just over a year and i’ve had my top ones in for 8 months. Hopefully have them both out for my 18th birthday in March next year… fingers + toes crossed! :D x

Well Im 17 Now And I’ve Had Mine Since I Was 11 So Thats 6 Years. And Im Supposed Tew Have Them For 15 Years Total. So I Have 9 More Years. Ima Have Braces Till Im 26

I have had mine on for 8 years and just go them off a week ago. along with that i have extesive surgeries to get my teeth to be where they are now, which i am thankful for. but i really think this is a new record for longest time non stop without braces.

I’ve had mine for 7 years. They’ve been straight for 4 of those years and my dentsit keeps asking me why I still have them. I’m gonna be the only girl at my prom with braces. And I haven’t had any surgery or anything, I just had regular slightly wonky teeth, I think my orthodontist might be a fraud…

I’ve had mine for 9 years! I had to get them because one of my upper middle teeth (the bunny looking ones) was completely sideways. That was back in 2nd grade, I’m in 12th now. It’ll be 10 years in a few months but I’ll finally be getting them off next month! The tooth was in place after a couple years, but my orthodontist dragged it out sooo long. And every visit is $100, I’m supposed to go once a month but with my family’s financial situation we made a habit of going once every few months, once I didn’t go for 7 months at a time. After my tooth was in place other things came up such as gaps etc. Realistically I should have had these off at least 3 years ago.

i have had mine on since 2004, and it is now 2011, i have had mine on for 8 yrs going on 9, i have no idea when i get them off, i have ceramic braces, i did not wear my rubber bands like i was suppose to all the time and i even got sick of having them in so long i took out the top wire and was embarrassed of what i did so i went back after a couple months and got a wire back on and continued with my treatment, i am so tired of having braces i now have like 6 gaps, 3 on each side, in my mouth when i didn’t have any until i got them, and i am waiting for the gaps to close until i get them off!!

Hi, This is Jeff. Im the guy who got his braces on March 6, 1979. I STILL HAVE MY BRACES ON! I only had them off July 16, 1987 thru October 13, 1992 because I was active duty in the Navy. I have had the brackets changed out when the elastic ties wont stay in place due to wear.. The brackets I got October 13, 1992 were on til May 4, 2005. On that day the direct bond brackets were swapped out for the older style Full Bands. Every one of my teeth had a metal band on it with a Twin Edge Bracket on it. They were done one at a time. I have had braces actually on my teeth almost 28 of the last 33 yrs. Of that, I have had braces continually on my teeth for 20 yrs and a month. i had a classmate back in year 2000 that wore braces. UNTIL now (2012). O_O

I’ve had mine for 7 years and still have them… I also had all kinds of other stuff and i started going to the orthodontist when i was in 3rd or 4th grade and still have them…My mouth was really messed up buy I am glad that I have them and I can tell that I’m getting close to the end!!
