Today I was sitting on my floor just cleaning my room

and all of a sudden out of absolutely nowhere i felt like i was staring at my hands but they were’nt mine anymore, and the pure fact that i was physcially sitting completely took my by surprise. My heart started racing and I felt like crying and I couldn’t totally breathe. after a few mintues the feelings went away but this is the third time its happened in two weeks. The only way i can fully explain it is like if you say a word a bunch of times but after a few times the word doesnt even mean anything anymore its just a sound. Can anyone tell me what might be happening? I DO NOT DO DRUGS. and I do not take any drugs as prescriptions either.

This happens to me too,
Except I start rolling around the floor, holding my head, or assuming the fetal position. After a long while, I gain control of myself again, and think I am retarded, or sometimes laugh at myself, but during the moment that it’s ocurring, I feel very scared, or lost, and sometimes dizzy. I felt as if some body parts did not belong to me. I do not take drugs either. I do not know the cause of this, but I believe it is stress. Since things have calmed down a little in my life, this has happened a lot less.
Hope this helps !

Are you going through a stressful time in your life?

What you are describing has a name: depersonalisation, or feeling as though you are outside or an observer of yourself or your body, and it is the third most common psychological experience after feelings of depression and anxiety. The symptoms you describe directly after this experience also sound very much like a panic attack.

I don’t think that there is anything wrong with you or that there are any sinister or nasty reasons for this happening. Are you under a lot of stress at the moment? What else is going on in your life?

That’s the reason then :)
I’m no doctor, but I suggest you try exercising, and doing things you like.
That worked for me !
Good luck.

In that case, I really feel that this is an anxiety problem. Panic attacks and feelings of depersonalisation can be very scary, but they are entirely harmless and you can learn to control them. Think about the stressful situations in your life and take small steps to make them more manageable if you can. If you are feeling depressed or overwhelmed, try to be kind to yourself and do things that you enjoy.
