black stuff in my nose?

well today i found some black stuff in my nose.
my friend gets black stuff in her nose from mascara and eyeliner because it goes down her eye to her nostrils.
it looked like the stuff that comes out of her nose, but i don’t wear makeup.
i didn’t give it much thought, but then i found it on my wall behind my computer.
i’m not sure what to do about this. what could it be?

What are your boogers doing on the wall behind your computer? Did you blow your nose really hard and it flew off there?
You could have inhaled some smoke. That happened to me once - when I turned on our oil lamp really bright, when I woke up the next morning, my nostrils were full of black boogers.
Another thing it can be is blood. I’m not trying to scare you, but old blood can get so dark it can look black. Bleeding noses are often caused due to picking it too much or blowing too hard.
I hope it’s nothing serious! Good luck!

uumm.. i was wondering the same thing… eeewwwwww…

but you have to realize, there is dirt and dust in the air… and if you are around a fire or anything that is dirty…. you breathe that in and voila, black in your nose..

OK, seriously…this does NOT happen because of eye makeup. When I go to a metropolitan city, my boogers turn black because of the pollution. When I burn a lot of candles at home my boogers turn black from the smoke and soot in the air. That’s what boogers are for…to catch the bad stuff so you don’t breathe it in!

Excellent point, steff. As for the black stuff on the wall, you may want to make sure it’s not mold. I’m not trying to scare you, but mold spores could be what’s in your nose, unless you’ve recently been in a dirty area (like the inside of a trailer or a remodeling job) and didn’t bother to blow your nose afterward. The dirt on the wall could be from your shoes. There are alot of different things it could be. Just make sure you take care of it immediately if it is mold. You could get very, very sick.

well….i think i figured it out :D
i was burning a candle that entire week.
the black stuff happened to go through my computer, which was on my desk, and spit it out behind it onto the wall.
all of the black crap was in my computer too.
so i guess it’s soot from the candle.

I just cleaned my nose and black dirt was in my nose. I googled to find an answer of what that could be. I’ve never experienced that before and it baffled me. Thanks Steff for the answer. I have been burning candles for the last two days. I never would have guessed that was the reason. I really appreciate your help.
