The book of Mormon?

It seems interesting what exactly is it about? I have heard it is the ‘word’ of jesus christ and it was written by joseph smith, who claimed he had visualy seen God and JC.

Best thing is to read the book, ask some Mormons, and examine what historians know about its history.

To me, the book of Mormon is kind of a wannabe-bible with stolen ideas. But the Mormon society is quite interesting, especially their educational system, some of their social welfare stuff and their ability to organize.
But even if their multi-wife marriages sounds exciting to a simple guy like myself, I don’t find it very decent.

If you want to learn about Mormons in an easy and casual way, read the first book about Sherlock Holmes book (”A Study in Scarlet”, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle).

Even if the book has some errors about the Mormons, it gives a so-so fair picture of their stuff. Besides it is an interesting detective story, especially since it was written in 1887.

The Mormons have a kind of apprenticeship system where they can get an education free of charge in return, for serving some time first as a missionary. I have met them a few times, and I must say that those have been by far more humble and nice than the visits I have got from the Jehova’s Wittnesses.
