Hi
My neighbor - in QUEENS NEW YORK is going broke, and will soon not be able to pay any bills, rent etc. She only has about $1000 left and that is going fast. Due to eyesight problems, she cannot work at normal jobs etc.
I expect that she will be getting an eviction notice shortly. She has had multiple operations on her eyes and also has back problems. She is in her early 60’s and has no family to support her.
Currently she gets about 300/month from x-husbands Social Security.
Are there services out there to help her stay in her apartment? I’ve seen services for the homeless - but is there a way to keep her from going homeless?
Also - she is willing to work - but so far with operations etc. that is very hard - especially for someone with sight problems.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks
