I have a thinkpad r40, pentium m, apparantly uses soundmax 1981B chipset, this is a preloved machine that i cant get sound to work on and i cant find an actual driver download to try that……………
Help Anyone????????

Try the download on that page, I believe that is the driver.

Oh, then it might not be. Try it and see, if it doesn’t work just google and keep looking. I tried a few pages it was hard to find an exact match, it’s an older driver.

it cant find the drive, not the right one, i been googling too :( was kinda hoping someonw might even happen to have the drive since its kinda common, be it old, but on with the search……..

Go in the bios and see what mother board your using if its an intel go to intel.com and get the drivers, if its another one go to their site and download the drivers for the board. That will make your sound work. Hope this helps :-)
