Well, as one person who has had -a lot- of divorces in her family…

I think one of the reasons is how easy it is to get a divorce, and how now it’s a do-able option. In the old days, you didn’t even think of getting a divorce, and so you -had- to get on with the person you were attached to. There was never the lingering thought ‘what if it was someone else’, because unless they died, that was impossible.

It basically says that we fall in love with an image of the person we like, however vague or non-vague it may be, whether the image is a part of the personality or looks. With everyone gettin haircuts, hairdyes, cosmetic surgery, emotions and moods changing faster then every, people and interests never staying the same, its hard for love to keep up with the changing image.

Not sure if that’s a good one to put in your cw, though :P

1) Women have a higher social standing and can now acceptably support themselves, whereas in the past the male was the breadwinner and the wife stayed at home with no income. women are more financially dependent than in the past and don’t need to be married for that reason.

2) look at the media and celebrity, celebrity marriages often end in divorce that in turn is covered by the mass media, putting divorce into the mainstream, it is now much easier to get a divorce and it is in a sense being advertised by the mass media.

3) women have greater rights than they did 50 years ago and divorce is not up to the male, if one party disagrees to a divorce it can be taken to court and the divorce will be carried out forcibly unlike in the past it was solely the husbands choice for a divorce.

Bad economy causes stress between couples. Or maybe homosexuality is more accepted so that breaks up married couples.
