HELP Someone just held me up with a hand in a pocket and a request for money.

I told them no and talked to him and pushed him away. I thought I could fight him or hand it over within an instant I refused repeatedly. In the end he walked away and so did I. I felt in fear for my life but thought to risk it on principal. He could have had a gun or a knife for all I knew but I refused to hand him over paper - 25 pound was all i had on me. The police are on there way. Should I press charges? I told him where I lived because he asked and I answered without thinking. My mum lives there too. What do I do? HELP. A grass normally gets killed or worse by these kind of people…Adivce immediately please…

call the police, tell them what happened and request some form of protection.
25 pounds? I am an “American idiot”, no idea what that translates to, but if it isn’t much you should have just given it to him.
the worst thing to do in a situation like that is to say no.
lives are more important than cash, he could have killed you and then taken it anyways. there is a better chance of surviving if you comply.

I know - it was 50 dollars and I it was borrowed. He said he didnt care when I said it was on camera…He acted fearless and so did I….He knows where I live and I guess he will be in a gang…I am poor and no one ever offers relocation for this. I am in fear for my life and my mum but can the police really help? If he talks to like minded street robbers or gangsters….More of them than police that will be put on protection duty for me…

I reckon you should provide the police with the necessary information such as what the guy looked like and where you were etc. At least the police can keep a look out for him. I aren’t sure if you can actually press charges as he hasn’t actually done anything to you except threaten you. (I aren’t sure though)

It sounds like he was trying to play on your fear and probably didn’t have any weapon at hand. Take extra care when you are out and about. Don’t go down any alleyways and make sure your doors are locked. Hopefully, he has forgot where you live.

He stood infront of the doorway of a petrol station…i want him to be arrested because next time he might have a knife, I think he had one because he never took his hand out of his pocket…I was bigger than him. I feel like I should have hurt him for the fear he is now putting on me

You can press charges if he threatened you. It’s attempted robbery regardless of whether he showed you a weapon or not, but if he had shown you the weapon it’s attempted armed robbery.

Were there any other witnesses?

It’s normal to want to hurt someone who has done something like this. However, if you did hurt him and it turned out that he didn’t have a weapon, you would be the one in trouble. It $ucks, but that’s how the world runs.

I think you should press charges.

I think you should press charges, that’s a pretty brave move to attempt it in the front of a station. The next person may not get away as lucky as you.

I hope there was a camera, I don’t know. Thats why I want to press charges but i am worried that the consequences of standing in court will be too high

Are you in the UK? Nearly all petrol stations have cameras, wouldnt hurt to find out.
I’m sure you can press charges and say you will not appear in court, just provide a statement. Good luck whatever you do

Tell the police all your concerns, and let them know that you disclosed your address to this guy. Hopefully, the chances are he does not remember, because in those high risk and high stress situations, the mind does not remember things too well, so you should be okay. The only time he may be likely to remember, is if the address is a local area known to him, where he grew up etc, then it would be easier to remember something like that.

Don’t worry about things, but do be cautious over the next few days and just keep a watchful eye out on things. Even though it is unlikely that he will come around to your address, but it wont do you no harm to be prepared. Keep some protection nearby.

I understand that this is a tense situation for you right now, but try not to panic, and breathe easy. With a bit of time, the shock of the situation will pass and you will be okay. Prosecute to the full extent of the law if there is enough evidence.

Take care.

Always press charges, I was in a similar situation, only in the us and the robber had a gun. I found out after it was put in the papers–that he had held up 5 or 6 other people locally, including women with children and old men and women.

Luckly some of them went and stood before the courts and I didn’t have to. I was a teen at the time and my parents lost it when they found out what happened (the 4 squad cars gave it away.)
