I don’t see why not. How else would you prove anything?
I think you should find some sources which give you a lot of info, rather than citing a lot of sources.
You don’t want more citations than info, do you.

so you should include your own idea on how he adapted his theories? then you wouldn’t use citations for that part. use them for background info though.
