to be honest, we’re not doing so well and haven’t been for awhile but it’s not everyone in the country. i’m going to say the government and the uncultured, backwoods racists (which i’m unfortunately surronded by) are the ones to hate. not the entire population

I dont like the Americanisation of Australia either, but it is Australia’s fault for adopting all the American memes and such. If we said no to following their culture in all its fascets, you wouldnt have a problem.

I used to hate America too, until I realised it was us, not them causing the problems.

i somewhat agree with you there. the death penalty should only be used when there is not a shadow of a doubt that the convicted person is undeniably guilty of a major felony. such as mass murder, torture and murder, or other serious offenses. but it should never be used if there is a slight chance for the person’s innocence. they should be then given a jail sentence.

the thought is “awesome” but it’s not the greatest idea. look at all of the ancient empires (because that’s what america is starting to become) like Macedonia or the British Empire. they all “policed the world” until they collasped because they couldn’t keep check on their components. if america tries to control other countries, sooner or later someone is gonna stand up. and if you think the War in Iraq is bad, just wait until there is a global revolt.

american needs to change over to SI units sometime soon. i’m tired of having to change all of my imperical measurements to SI when talking to people from other countries. it’s just a useless show of how much america has to be different.

i’m an american and i think we should go with SI. it just makes more sense to me. in chemistry and engineering classes, all we use is SI units because that is what every other country in the world uses and it would make discussing designs so much easier.

i suppose what i hate the most is just the self-given right to force others in regard to culture, beliefs or the concept of what is right or wrong… however ‘right’ or ‘good’ it may seem… ‘freedom’, what can be better than that, right?, but does that, just that, justify for the right to ‘liberate’ others?

America is the land of hypocrisy. they talk of freedom yet spy on there own more than any other country in the world. Then using their position rope other governments into doing the same, Australia is not far behind when it comes to governments spying on their own people.

The talk of religious freedom but ban prayers at school. Derr even the money says in god we trust. but do they? no in the patriot act they trust.

And this really gets me. If you should flash a boob on American TV they scream in outrage. yet not a whisper over the myriads of films glorifying death and brutality. Its not ok to see some ni pple but its fine to watch some guy have his brains splattered over the walls.

I don’t hate America per se but I really don’t like what they are becoming and countries like Oz fall lock step behind them :(
