I told someone I would post something and shout to them when I did, so here it is.
An Island..
Walking in the dark,
unwinding,
I look down the street,
past the rise,
where the streetlights dance in formation.
The gulf wind takes bites out of the clouds.
It’s just an evening stroll.
making time for thought,
marking steps to a music in my head.
Silence as again I meet my shadow under the lamplight.
Hoping for an island of calm,
with a tree I’ll call hope.
Beautiful sand beaches,
palms swaying gently in tropical breezes.
Azure coves and colorful fishes.
Where time stands still.
The rhythm in my footfalls a cadence,
isn’t beating time to a listening ear.
Who really cares?
The distance between me,
and the island with the tree is significant.
I wish for it to be so much closer,
I wish to be transported,
in the blink of an eye,
but it’s refused.
The wish remains ungranted,
I’ll not be whisked off tonight,
not able to live in my dream.
Just maybe..
I’ll find it in a dream as I rest my mind.
