Thought help: Are we alone? - Help.com

Are we alone?

I was just wondering what your thoughts are on this crazy universe of ours…
Do you think we’re the only ones out there, or do you believe in aliens? Gods?
Even if they do exist, do you think they’ve been here or was Roswell and such just a hoax?

I don’t believe that we are alone. I believe other life forms exist out there. I mean surely what makes us so special that only we believe we are the only life form that exists?? :) It’s cool to think about the unknown. It can be freaky to if you think about it for too long. :)

Our universe is too big to think that we’re the only ones living in it. It would just be silly to think that way.

It is kinda odd to think about how small we really are. I like to think it’s humbling though.

I believe there is life out there somewhere, but that it wouldn’t be interested in anything that couldn’t even get a lightyear or two away from their own planet. But part of me wouldn’t be surprised if the president told everyone the gov’t has been talking the weather to aliens for the past 50 years or so.

the point of it , is not to believe it or not , the point is to open up your mind to possiblities , everything is possible ^_^

the theory goes something like this:

god has no purpose to exist , so something must drive god to create humans , since he doesnt feel love or fear and stuff cause he isnt human he is god, so the only thing that can drive him is his own destruction, cause god cant see beyond his destruction, so it was the big bang or god destruction ^_^ and we are the remainder of this destruction so basically we are god but just like cells we dont form a body , we all 2gether as human being and planet and everything form god , but we dont know it just like cells dont know they form a human being ^_^ nice theory :D

believe it or not doesnt matter , it expands your mind to new possiblities :D

Good point, who are we to judge whether there’s such a thing as God or not, for we are nothing but mere stains on the pages time compared to the grand scheme of things… :)

to me it doesnt make a difference really if we believe god exits or not, let’s say god does exist , god gave us everything we need brain, body, soul etc… so he gave us everything now why in the hell would he give us a brain if everytime we did fail in something instead of seeking a solution we started praying etc… dont wana go that much :D

cool. so if there is other intelligent life out there, according to the theory, we would all be connected no matter how far apart we are, even if we don’t know it. and even animals and plants might have been a part of God.

yeah, I can see where you’re coming from. Some people would argue that it’s because he cares about us because he made us in his own image and just wants us to talk to him and aknowledge him as our creator. I don’t really know what I believe really. :)

this is from the book :D lol i will give you a link to the book if you want ^_^

I didn’t know how much of the old man’s opinions to take
at face value. Everything he talked about had a kind of logic
to it, but so do many things that are nonsense. I decided it
was best just to listen. Whatever was happening to me, at
least it was different. I liked different.
He started again. “If you want to understand UFOs,
reincarnation, and God, do not study UFOs, reincarnation,
and God. Study people.”
“Are you saying none of those things are real?” I was
offended by his certainty, given the thousands of eyewitness
accounts for each of those things.
“No,” he said, “I am saying that UFOs, reincarnation,
and God are all equal in terms of their reality.”
“Do you mean equally real or equally imaginary?”

“Your question reveals your bias for a binary world
where everything is either real or imaginary. That distinction
lies in your perceptions, not in the universe. Your
inability to see other possibilities and your lack of vocabulary
are your brain’s limits, not the universe’s.”
“There has to be a difference between real and imagined
things,” I countered. “My truck is real. The Easter Bunny is
imagined. Those are different.”
“As you sit here, your truck exists for you only in your
memory, a place in your mind. The Easter Bunny lives in the
same place. They are equal.”
“Yes, but I can go out and drive my truck. I can’t pet
the Easter Bunny.”
“Was the rain from this morning real?”
“Of course.”
“But you can’t see or touch that rain now, can you?”
“No.”
“Like the Easter Bunny, the past exists only in your
mind,” he said. “Likewise, the future exists only in your
mind because it has not happened.”
“But I can find evidence of the past. I can check with the
weather people and confirm that it rained this morning.”
“And when you get that confirmation, it would instantly
become the past itself. So in effect, you would be using the

past, which does not exist, to confirm something else from
the past. And if you repeat the process a thousand times,
with a thousand different pieces of evidence, together they
would still be nothing but impressions of the past supporting
other impressions of the past.”
“That’s just mental gymnastics. You’re playing with
words,” I said.
“An insane person believes his world is consistent. If he
believes the government is trying to kill him, he will see
ample evidence of his belief in the so-called real world. He
will be wrong, but his evidence is no better or worse than
your evidence that it rained this morning. Both of you will
be converting evidence of the present into impressions
stored in your minds and you will both be certain your evidence
is solid and irrefutable. Your mind will mold the facts
and shape the clues until it all fits.”
“That might be true of crazy people, but not normal
people.”
“Clinical psychologists have proven that ordinary people
will alter their memories of the past to make them fit
their perceptions. It is the way all normal brains function
under ordinary circumstances.”
“I didn’t know that.”
“Now you do,” he replied.

yeah, I’ve made more aquaintences in my life than friends, and most of them were just friends of curcumstance because we had the same class to gether or worked the same job. so I’m used to being mostly alone, too.
I agree about not being with someone unless you love them. I get sooo tired of seeing people I know in a relationship just for the look of things.

just read some of those comments, dunno how you really got onto that but its like the cat in a box paradox. If you put a cat in the box and close the lid is the cat still in the box? you can never tell becuase if you look in then you are seeing the cat to be there but you it is impossible to witness somthing without sensing it, plus you cant proove either possability. The interesting thing is that this can be applied to everything that you have ever known becuase you only things that you can be definate about their existance are the things that are immeadiatly around you…

I see, too bad you don’t celebrate thanksgiving, it is a pretty american thing though. Gives us a chance to pig out all day on good food and then crash on the couch and watch football. And everyone wonders why Americans are fat…cause we have too many excuses to pig out lol.
My family is also christian, but they’re kind of a dying breed here…

well, the only hard core christians in my part of the country, Oklahoma, are fifty or older, not so many people my age go to church for purely religeous reasons. it might be different in other parts of the country.

church and lebanon

why men go to church in lebanon : to check out the body of the girls
why do women go to church in lebanon : to talk about who came into the church and what are ppl wearing

nobody cares about the actual event :D lol

yeah, I’m glad I can meet new people like you from all over the world and unite, even if the things going on between different countries aren’t so great right now. :)
