guy help: okay so there’s this guy at work. - Help.com

okay so there’s this guy at work.

he’s really sweet and awesome to hang out with, but he keeps asking if i want to be his girlfriend. every co-worker is putting pure-pressure to make a move on me, and he’s falling into it. so he wont leave me alone. anyway when he asked me all i said was that “im not ready for a relationship right know”, which is the truth, but i dont want to hurt his feelings. i tried to tell him no but it didnt work out. know i just cant get him off my back. what should i do? i dont want to hurt him.

Be firm.
You don’t want to hurt him but you’ve told him you’re not looking for a relationship, so if he keeps pushing, you may need to be blunt.

At the end of the day, what’s worse?
Upsetting him a bit or being constantly buugged by him to be his girlfriend?

Never date someone you work with. It’ll screw up your job, guaranteed.

Say, “I never date co-workers.”

It doesn’t screw up your job unless the relationship goes bad.
Doubly so if they’re your boss.

As step said, “be firm”. Don’t say “I never date co-workers” unless you mean it. What if a guy gets hired that yr actually into & you go for it, then you’re a hypocrite & a liar. Anyway, you don’t want him in that sense regardless so he needs to know it. If I were you, I’d just be honest with him and tell him what you told us. Add that while you value him on a platonic level, your decision as far as a relationship is final and that you’d hope he can respect that. Also, your co-workers should grow up. I’m sure they mean it all in good fun, probably doing so partially out of boredom, but someone’s feelings are at stake here. If all goes well, and he agrees, don’t end the conversation there. Talk about other topics and joke. A sense of humor can go a long way & he’ll see that you’re serious about continuing your friendship without any awkwardness. Leave the past in the past & move forward.
