The only thing that will change your position is you changing it, praying is fine, but do that after you work to fix things, if needed.
I know how you feel about your classes, ive been there.. i have literally missed soo many classes when i went to my final i forgot what room i was in. and i dont even have drugs as an excuse… i was just unresponsible >
but as for your current situation the best way to get out of a hole is to stop digging, which i see you are already doing, and gj on being clean. Now just remember if you do mess up it doesnt mean its over.. it just means you get to get up and try again, this time with a little more knowledge.

Id have to disagree w/ xeno. I dont want to get in a pointless argument, but from what I know is if you have full faith in God, and trust and be obedient to him, he can change your life. He will work through you and fix things. the key here is accepting his grace and he will fix it for you, because you cannot fix it yourself without the grace of God. Too many people say they believe in god… then go and try to fix it themselves, thats completely counter-intuitive.

Scientific studies confirm it, praying has the same effects and affects as rubbing a lucky horseshoe or rabbit’s foot. Do something more productive with your time.
stop trying to test God, hes not a puppet. And I hope every christian realises that you don’t pray and instantly get what you want, or may even get it at all. In the end its not your will its his.

Okay. First of all, what’s the ******* point of worshiping a god if it isn’t going to do anything for you? Secondly, if god has a plan, why the **** pray? It seems rather presumptuous to think a god is going to give a **** about your grades, etc. When there are starving people who need the help more. Thirdly, what about all the promises made in the Bible, god’s “holy” book? Verifiable text that guarantees you get what you pray for if you believe god will do it, and you pray in Jesus name, so that it may glorify the father through the son? Doesn’t that mean anything? Or is the bible just a lie written by men who made mistakes? I think it’s the latter.

the point of worshipping God even if he isnt going to do something for you, because its not about you. you pray so that you cah have a personal relationship with christ. he gives you a choice to make one with him or not. and That is not how God works… he doesnt just pick the ones that are the worst off to help first.
What about his promises? it does not guarantee you will get what you want, i dont know who or what youve been listening to.

I would suggest you research Zen Buddhism. Its not a worship of a god or buddha its a way to help you accept yourself for who you are and very calming. I would say itsa more of a mindset that will help you deal with your personal demons.
