two ways to start a company… big idea and hard work. in this economy noone is buying so its hard to start these days but its a good idea to get a plan together so when the economy hits the floor and then starts to get better, you can jump right in. small businesses are going to do well after this recession because bigger companies with high capital are going to be battered and market entrence will be that much easier. do you know what you want to sell.. do you have a dream or do you want to just flip merchandise? did you go to college? lots of times in a recession people take the oppertunity to go back to school and become prepared for after the recession.. how old are you?
i dont know how old your kids are but as a single father you may want to take the oppertunity provided by our great 21st century and easily flip merchandise online
im 30 years old. yes i know what i want to sell. i want to start a clothing company. Yes i have some college but not much.i have some great iedas. and just help to make and give more back to my kids.

there are plenty of t-shirt printers who also do other apparel and accessories. probably at first you would design them and then outsource the construction. If you market well soon youll be able to do more and more in house. Clothing online is a HUGE market but if you say your good with people you could do some real world footwork too and try to get local owners to let you set up shelves in their stores. Clothing is all about unit cost and return on investment (so is every business) but with clothing in particular your talking high volume and small profit margins to stay afloat. efficiancy of organization: make the business operations repetitive and organize, organize, organize. the better and more efficient you make daily operations the less you will have to worry about when big new problems arise. Also, try not to be supplied by only one supplier. get a book on internet marketing and web venue design. get a book on accounting, if you know accounting its the difference between watching money and watching money with binoculors, youll be aware of all types of ratios that will define your strengths and weaknesses. to cut expenses you could design the site yourself. Their are plenty programs with tutorials (dream weaver, fireworks) their expensive to buy in store but not many people do that these days anyway. start your buisness plan by defining your marketing plan. This means, what has to be done to get the customer the product. In your case it will probably be the creation of a design (customer research), manufacturing the design (outsource, in house), delivery, and a contingency plan in case of returns (customer service). And the most important rule of business.. HAVE AN ESCAPE STRATEGY! You must be prepared for your business to fail. If it goes under the last thing you want to have is debt (or a room full of boxes and clothes.) be able to liquidate as quickly as possible. Go buy a business for dummies book it will give the basics. focus on the marketing plan ideally you would want to draw a design take it to the next room and manufacture it and then send it from your place of business. The size of your business being small though complicates things, the trick is to keep it as simple as possable, while keeping the necessary cost structure for your required rate of return at a maintainable level.

well you see i frist step is to get my trade mark. well first to get the money to apply for one.yes i know its a dream.and its not happening over nite. its like buliding army. i need the right people to surport me. war and you cant win one by yourself.
