Anybody ever notice how people will describe themselves a certain way, but the next day flip?

It is hard keeping faith in humanity when so many are rarely genuine in their paths.

Perhaps the description is more of an aspiration? Just bcos people aren’t telling the literal truth, doesn’t mean they’re not genuine, it depends what they’re trying to say.

Naw, I mean like a description of themselves. They’ll say things like, oh Im really laid back and am committed to changing the world. And then the next day they’ll flip out while driving, flick someone off, call someone a racist name…Its like theres no truth to their actions.

Well, most people aren’t very introspective. They can’t see their own faults or their own virtues.

I just wish more people would take the time to wonder why they feel so ****** all the time, and maybe try to treat other people better to see how that makes them feel. I’ve been trying to cultivate my own personality, but its hard when so many of my friends who share my beliefs fail so miserably. Trying to help them, but sometimes it feels like no progress is being made…

even if i have a lot of faults, im not going to focus on them if i describe myself.

people will fail to be good all the time. its our nature to screw up and lose site of the paths that we should be taking…

It is also our nature to maintain integrity as much as possible, to hold ourselves together, body mind and soul. That doesn’t necessarily mean that keeping words in accordance with actions is of the same priority for different people when trying to maintain integrity.

This is about hypocrisy. You can’t learn about a person by what they say, they should rely only on what they do and the consistency of their actions. I know very few people who aren’t hypocritical sometimes.

Perfection is hard. If you’re always trying to improve yourself you barely have time to live life. I’m sure your friends aren’t positive they want to be saints.

No, the object is not sainthood. The object is unconditional happiness. You dont need to be a saint to be happy, but to be happy we have to be genuine on some level, dont you agree?

And you gotta start somewhere, you cant keep putting it off to “just being human”. The purpose of life is to strive towards something higher, if we stand still its like we’re dead.

Essentially, I see myself as someone who lives by his word. If I tell you Im your friend, I will be your friend 100% of the time that I am available. If I say I will do something, I will do it. I try to view all people as equal, and inherently worth my attention because everyone has the potential to be great. I try to keep as little ego within myself as possible and still get the rent paid. I have a set routine of martial arts and meditation that I try to do every day. I view every lie I tell to be subtractive from my ideals. And most importantly, I try to maintain a positive mentality at all times and to be happy.

Oh, and therein lies the problem in trying to be spotless in a tarnished world.
