Auditioning for Seussical!

Yes, my school is doing a production of Seussical The Musical, and I was wondering if you guys had any tips on getting the part for JoJo. I’ve been practicing my voice a lot, especially learning JoJo’s parts and trying to sing high notes.I kind of need tips for warm ups on getting my voice ready, and any tips form anybody who has ever played JoJo!I especially love “McElligot’s Pool” and “Alone in the Universe”. I can’t find ANY instrumentals, so if you guys have links, that’d be AWESOME!
Auditions are next week, and this is for Middle School and High School, (which my school has 6-12th grade :).

There’s not anything you can do at an audition other than really sell the roll. The thing is you have no idea what the director is looking for. In a school situation however you’re lucky because you can go to the director (you probably have classes with the director) and ask them what they are looking for in certain characters. Sometimes the director knows… sometimes they don’t and want to be surprised at the auditions. The key to an audition is knowing your audition piece VERY well, so you can really sell it. Dress comfortable, but not too casually… and be confident (which I know can be difficult because auditions are nerve wracking).
