I work at Vons/Safeway and I am 17.

When i signed up I was forced to join the union. I had to pay dues and the initial starting due, now I was still a minor did i have to pay those fees for benefits i never saw?

I think anybody who works at Safeway/Vons has to pay those dues. You may not get the benefits but someone will!

I would continue paying them anyway. You never know when you might need the benefits. Having the union behind you if something goes wrong is well worth the few dollars it costs.

I would advise not paying. In my opinion, the union is nothing but a greedy, money-hungry megalomaniac that is responsible for a huge share of today’s economic problems. Plus the monthly fees, from what I’ve heard from a Vons employee, are outrageous
