You could try running Windows update. That might patch things up.

Thank you. All right. Nothing strikes me as suspicious. That means something is executing in the code of one of the processes or system processes, or something is going on with the registry. Are you familiar with msconfig?

I just would like a list of startup items. I’d go to Start -> Run… -> Type msconfig -> Click on the startup tab, and list the items that are enabled (have a check beside them) please.

That may be an issue, but it might not be related to the Internet problem. I would download ccleaner for that. It is a free, spyware/malware free application that can clean your computers temporary information, cookies, etc; it can manage your startup items (you will be able to remove that unlabeled process; and it can repair errors in your registry (results in a performance boost and error reduction).

A search for “ccleaner” (yes, it has two c’s) will usually have their website as the first hit. I researched those startup processes. None of them are remotely suspicious. Now we just need to see the results of the virus scan.

Only if you tell it too. Running it brings up the user interface where you can select different procedures and check different objects. I have it installed on my computer, so I can guide you through using it if you would like. They also have a tutorial/walkthrough on their site.

The “Fix selected issues” Button should be enabled. Please click it. It will ask if you want to back up your registry. Click yes please. A save file box will pop up. Please save it to a spot you can remember to find it at. After that, a dialog box will come up. Please hit “Fix all selected issues.” If you have any troubles as a result of cleaning, you can double click the registry file you saved to restore your settings.

I might would clean out the temp files, but you asked earlier about stored passwords. I believe the cookies section covers that. So I would check or uncheck cookies depending on whether or not I wanted my passwords remembered.
