question help: Well, you see i have this problem. - Help.com

Well, you see i have this problem.

Im pretty overweight, and i want to loose weight. Obviousli it wouldnt be a problem, but i have a medical problem, and im not aloud to do sports. But actualli im jst not aloud to run or jump (which includes most sports). the thing is running n jumping increases the pain (in mi leg), n loosing weight wud decrease it. Now i noe i could swim, but i want to see if there are any other possibilities. So my question is can you think of sports OTHER than swimming, where u dont run or jump??

Maybe riding a bike.
Nothing dramatic like tour de france, but maybe just a short ride each day for a little while. Lose a bit of weight.
Then make the bike rides longer, and lose more?

Yoga is really good, it’s pretty low impact (depending on who you go to!) and can be good for injuries too. Weight lifting may not be the best idea because it still puts a lot of preasure on your legs. Yoga, or even pliates builds leaner muscles too so your not likely to get bulky or anything, and it can be pretty good for the mind too!
Also, just changing your diet can help heaps, I’ve recently lost about 10 kilos just from changing my diet but I still get to eat nice food, not just salads n stuff!
try www.sparkpeople.com they have lots of good tips! or thedailyplate.com for the nutrition side.
Hope this helps!

There are walking tapes by Leslie Sansone that you can do at home. They are low-impact aerobics, so no jumping.

There are also chair exercises, where you can sit in a chair and do weight lifting and legs lifts but, at an a new angle so it isn’t any stress on your knees.

I too hail to www.sparkpeople.com they are the best. There sight is very informative and they are extremely reasonable. They have a very low one time only charge. There are many coaches and nutritionists to help you reach your goals. There are message boards and a food tracker.

There is also water aerobics where you get double the benefit (water resistance) with no impact to the joints. Good Luck.
