My dad has been having really bad nose bleeds in the last month.

He woke up once in the middle of the night coated in blood and he has them VERY often and I’m worried about him. Sometimes he gets them bad enough that he feels like they aren’t going to stop. He is going to the doctor’s Tuesday but I’m really worried. What could cause this? (He has diabetes and takes something for it and he takes aspirin to thin his blood but he has been taking them for YEARS and has never had a problem before). Any ideas?

High blood pressure causes nose bleeds. I get nose bleeds when I stress or when I get very hot.

Thin blood makes it hard to stop as there are not as many platelets.

Keep an eye on it and be careful. Make sure he eats plenty of leafy green vegetables for iron to restore his blood. When I was a child, I had to go to the hospital for anaemia due to nose bleeds, so it can get bad if left unchecked.

I had a friend like that when I was younger. I get nose bleeds sometimes from allergies. Burst blood vessels, I think. I think that if they last more than half an hour, you’re supposed to go to the hospital immediately.

The blood thinners could be making the nose-bleeds worse. I would definitely get him checked out at the doctors and keep a good watch on him. It could be a sign of some thing bad, but right now just thinking positively.
